#18 - The Triforce Cup is a DLC.

Uhm, Mario Kart 8.

Correct!

#18 - Mario Kart 8: Mario Kart is probably my favorite racing series of all time. When I played Mario Kart 8 for the first time, I was really impressed about how the game evolved. The gameplay is a lot of fun, the soundtrack is great, and the visuals are beautiful. A must-have for Nintendo fans.

More clues:

15. a) The developer of this game actually created another successful series first.  But then the developers and their publisher were bought by two different companies.  That lead this developer to create this game which had the developer's first series as their main competitor.
b)  The publisher of the first series made plastic instruments.  But I am looking for the first game in the second series.

14. a) This fantasy beat'em up lets you choose from 3 different characters.
b) Sega

13.  a)  One way this spiritual successor changed from it's previous game is that it was no longer a PS3 exclusive.
b)  Your ability to level up and buy equipment come from the same "currency".

15. Uh, that is Rock Band.

EDIT:

#13: And that is Dark Souls.

Both correct!

19.  Secret of Monkey Island  (or one of its sequels)

18.  That line sounds familiar.  Grim Fandango?

16.  Day of the Tentacle

(Going full LucasArts with my guesses)

Correct on #19 and #16. #18 isn't LucasArts.

#23 Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
guessed by The_Liquid_Laser
platform Wii
release year 2007
developer/publisher Intelligent Systems/Nintendo
genre turn based tactics

Radiant Dawn was my first contact with the Fire Emblem series. And it did quite impress me. It was challenging but fair, was nice on the eyes and had a compelling story with interesting characters. I went on to play more Fire Emblem titles, as turn-based tactics happens to be a genre I like very much (as more entries in my TOP 50 prove). But as this was the first contact, it left an impression and I still think this is a great title in the series.

This game was the direct sequel to the Gamecube entry Path of Radiance and followed the events of that game. I really do like a lot of the tactical options, like height or the ability to shapeshift of some units. The game is quite hard, it is needed to keep the characters you use leveled.

#22 UFO: Enemy Unknown/X-COM: UFO Defense

This game was the groundwork for a lot of similar titles. Strategic base building and research in real time, but turn-based tactical missions if UFOs turned up. That was a very enticing and addicting mix.

This game led to my first all-nighter. I had the mindset: I only do this, just one more UFO mission, I need to get to the end of the month funds to build just one more building. And then it started to get bright outside and birds started singing. I just hadn't noticed how the time was gone.

I still remember the horror of the terror mission. Because these civilians just ran randomly into the aliens and were killed. And I got punished in the rating. That was unfair, they just had to hide behind my soldiers!

But it was so satisfying to shoot down the UFOs, explore them and finally even storm their bases.

#21 Deus Ex: Human Revolution

In a way you can call the Deus Ex series "Transhumanism: The Game". I am not aware of any other game series, that has transhumanism so much as a core theme. And this theme is integrated with the gameplay, as your abilities are brought on by technical enhancements of your body. On the story side, the game explores the societal impact of the availability of technology that enables transhumanism. This all makes an very exciting package.

I played Human Revolution as the Director's Cut on WiiU, but it is available on many platforms. The gameplay is an mix of action adventure, shooter and stealth, with RPG-elements to advance your character. That works splendid.

One element of the game that makes it so great is the big amount of possible solutions to one problem. Problem: you want to enter the police headquarters. What are your options? Well, you can sweet talk the guy at the entrance to let you in. You can crawl through the ventilation shafts like the Alien. Or you can go into the police station with guns blazing, like the Terminator. Or you hack your way in, like a Shadowrunner. All options are valid and possible. This gives you as the player a lot of influence.

Your actions have consequences. That is made clear in the beginning, as the hostages die if you take too long. Or that oyur pilot dies, if you don't invest a lot effort to help her escape. This is all not influencing the story too much, but it feels impactful. Great work Eidos!

And it's not too long until 2027, the year the game is set.

This shooter was never meant to be as influential as it was, but as fate would have it, this became the shooter that made shooters on console. When it released obviously I was unaware of the fact, but I was aware that this was an exceptional game. It follows the movie faithfully, and takes liberties when necessary. I was hooked on the single player mode enough already and played through it start to finish multiple times, but the multiplayer was where most of the fun was had. The mode was only simple deathmathes in split screen mode, which means everyone cheats, but this was very thrilling. In fact, this is one of the only shooters on console, I enjoyed. Most of the rest I'd rather played on PC.

A day late with that one, will be doing half a day for the next two to catch up. Let's see if they'll be guessed in half the time.

#17: The reveal trailer for this game sparked a reaction from the crowd at E3 that could very well have been the biggest outburst of joy at this event ever. The reaction was probably partly because this game had a look to it that fans had hoped the previous game in this series already had.
