ok, less than I expected.
At least, we will not see only tapus, mythics, ultrabeasts on competitive. Time for different pokemon to shine.

How do you decide whether or not to buy a game then?  Granted there will be more accurate information once the game is out, but at a certain point, unless you buy literally all the games, you have to make a decision on a game without having actually played it.

A few things play a role.  Genre, developer history (do I like their previous games), I'll read reviews, coop (couch) additions are selling points.  Either way, the point being I don't judge a game unless I have played it.  Like Death Standing, which I am not buying (not my genre), you won't see me running around the forum talking about how lazy it is.  I haven't played it, so I won't comment much on it much, outside it isn't my type of game based on reviews.  Ultimately a few folks (I'd rather use other words) have already judged Pokemon...  without reading a single review, without playing it.  That is moronic at best.

Edit

More to the point, if there is a game that I don't plan on buying, I don't dedicate my day attempting to convince others they should join my "team."  I leave well enough alone and accept everybody has different tastes.

Well, I think that just about settles that. I completely agree, and I usually decide on games much the same. I've never understood those that try to get others to hate/love anything.to each their own.

We've got this loser:                    But not this legend:

I'm sorry but you lost it right there.

Chandelure is a legend.

It has a beastly 145SpAtk. Its literally the strongest non-legendary offensive mon of its gen.
Blastoise is alright I guess.

Chandelure is a legend.

Chandelure's one of my favourites ever and one of my top 6! as of right now, my party consists of:

Lucario - Fighting/Steel
Gardevoir - Psychic/Fairy
Chandelure-Fire/Ghost
Lapras-Water/Ice
Vikavolt-Electric/Bug
Braviary-Flying/Normal

Usually I add Garchomp to that list as he's Dragon/Ground, but he didn't come forward so I guess I'll survive without him.

My Console Library:

PS5, Switch, XSX

PS4, PS3, PS2, PS1, WiiU, Wii, GCN, N64 SNES, XBO, 360

It also has remarkably good Defense and Special Defense on top of that, with shoddy attack (which it never uses anyway) and decent Speed/HP. It's basically a perfect balance, all on top of an outstandingly exceptional Special Attack. Get a modest one (SP attack up, attack down), and it gains even more. My Chandelure beasts just about everything it comes into contact with. It's hard as hell to get to its final form with its late evolution and dusk stone requirement (and it doesn't learn any moves in its third evolution), but man it's my perfect pokemon. Fighting, Psychic, Ghost, and Dragon are all must-haves. Fairy, Steel, and Bug are also essential in many ways. Base elements like electric, Water, Grass, Ground, Rock are nice but mediocre in some ways.

On top of that it has a very good attack movepool. Not a great supporting one, but with its SpAttack you'll want it on offense. I dont get how people think it has a bad design when way back to gen1 we had designs like Jynx, Voltorb and Mr Mime.

For me Psychics, Dragons and Steel are a must-have for convenience. I dont really think any specific type is mediocre per-se, but some type combinations can be a problem. Specially electric trypes, I hardly ever use them. In the multiplayer metagame they are almost worthless cause of how popular certain moves are that keep them in check.

pokemon topic being ruined by the same vocal complainers about gamefreak. Most likely people with zero development knowledge or experience.

Coming into every pokemon or gamefreak topic and calling them lazy (how is this not considered trolling)

I'm surprised how much this has upset people, I clearly remember playing Ruby/Sapphire for the first time and realising a large number of the original Pokedex had been cut (but I don't remember people being angry about it). This was later changed by FireRed/LeafGreen and Pokemon Colosseum/XD, there's no reason this couldn't happen again.

Pokemon weren't cut out of Ruby/Sapphire. There just wasn't any way to get them because you couldn't trade from GB/GBC to GBA. They became available in Ruby/Sapphire when Fire Red and Leaf Green came out. Now-a-days with the internet you can pay a subscription to store all your pokemon, but they won't let you use them in Sword/Shield. They have a subscription service to store your pokemon and then they won't even let you use them in the new game, it's a bit much.

The actual number isn't a massive deal to me, the actual pokemon missing are. You'd think the starters would have at least been saved from the cut.

No bulbasaur? Squirtle? Cyndaquil? Totodile? Mudkip? Piplup? And some of my favorite pokemon: Shinx, Lickitung, Psyduck, Apalm, Poliwag... there are some substantial gaps here.

We've got this loser:                    But not this legend:

Yes, as I said cut from Ruby & Sapphire (initially), it was 2 years until FR/LG.

They were accessible later but just like now people played through Hoenn without quite a number of Pokemon. It's even less of an issue now as additional content can be easily added... also I like Chandelure.

No Pidgeotto no buy. Well in my case no pirating it :(
