Nah, they're still going third party, Switch will stop selling when PS5/Nextbox come out, they've used all their big IPs already, and it won't be getting AAA PS5/Nextbox ports and without those nobody will buy it anymore.

Sarcasm?

They still don't have, after the end of this year, Animal Crossing, Pikmin, Metroid Prime 4, Botw 2, a proper 2d Mario game that is new, star for, kid Icarus, advanced wars, paper Mario, a new Donkey Kong game, etc. And the success of the Switch means develope s will be more willing to port ps5/xbox2 games to switch.

I'll never be convinced it's a limitation issue after all the ports to the Wii. 360/ps3 -- Wii gap is greater than ps5/Xbox 2 -- Switch power gap. If they don't want to make the ports for Switch due to lazyness or not thinking it will sell, that's fine and their choice, but they absolutely can make ports with enough effort.

Yes, sarcasm. I was basically just mocking the most common doom-and-gloom comments about Switch's future.

I don't actually think that Switch will get AAA PS5/Nextbox ports, but I don't think it needs them; it's not games like Doom 2016 or Wolfenstein II that are selling the system now, so it won't be Call of Duty 2021 or Wolfenstein III that sell it in the future. It'll do fine with indies, AA games, and late 8th gen ports.

Probably waiting to cross 1 billion before going third party.

tag:"reviews only matter for the real hardcore gamer"

Botw pushing Zelda above the 100 million mark and on it's way (with the sequel) to comeback to 3rd place.
Also, Switch is def surpassing the SNES this year.

Nintendo is doomed!  Doomed I tells ya!  The more successful they are, the more doomed they are.  Just ask any Nintendo hater.  The very second the PS5 and Scarlett are released, Switch sales will fall off such a steep cliff, that they'll never sell a single piece of hardware again.  Nintendo is doomed!

Impressive but I just cant help but compare Nintendo's numbers to the absolute monster numbers Sony's consoles have put up. (except vita lol)

PS2 about 155m
PS4 about 100m
PS1 about 100m
PS3 about 85m
PSP about 80m
PSV about 15m

That puts it at least 535 million units compared to 750 million Nintendo currently has.
What's also impressive is its only Sony's 6 consoles vs Nintendo's 11 as well as Nintendo having an 11 year head start in the gaming industry compared to Sony's playstation.
Nonetheless I'd like to congratulate Nintendo's massive achievement

Welp that didn't take very long, thought we'd at least be on page 3-4 before seeing a post like this lol.

Anyhoo, fantastic achievement by the alpha and omega of gaming.

How about Sony 1st party software sales? Why didn't you add them too?

For Sony first party to have the same kinda Quality / Legs as Nintendo stuff there would need to be a PS2 game still selling 40k in the last quarter to match the numbers that Mario Kart Wii done.
