Nothing would top RE on my list.

Not even RE2? :O

I have nostalgia for the first one, but my favorite on gameplay was RE3 and that sucker Nemesis terrifying me all the time.

I've played the remaster for RE1 and 2 and they are great (RE7 is as well). I'm not being technical, just preference in this time.

If we were evaluating the best game then yes RE2 remake would win but closely followed by RE7.

Resident Evil 3 was a culmination of what made the first two amazing, and Nemesis was the perfect twist for the formula, and still remains my favorite boss. Resident Evil 7 was absolutely amazing and showed how you can perfectly relaunch an IP, without shitting on it's past. The Last of Us is perfect as far as games go, and still one of my favorite, if not my favorite game of all time. Silent Hill 2.... fuck that game, I couldn't finish it, it was just sooooo good at scaring the shit out of me

Special mention: most underrated series ever, goes to, Clocktower!

Vote the Mayor for Mayor!

I voted for Resident Evil, mostly because that is the only survival horror series I've played, and even then it was only the first two.  I really liked the concept of the first game, but by the second game I felt the concept got old.

If you want to count Dark Souls as survival horror, then that is my favorite.

The Last of Us, of course!

It didnt occured to me it was a survival horror game, I always thought of it as action/adventure.
Its probably up there in the top 3 for me as well.

It is criminal that I haven't seen the original Outlast nor Siren mentioned. That said, the original Silent Hill remains my favorite horror game of all time, but in a Top 5...

1. SILENT HILL
2. F.E.A.R.
3. Outlast
4. Condemned: Criminal Origins
5. Siren: New Translation

6-10: Silent Hills 3, 4, 2, Resident Evil 0, and Resident Evil 2 REMAKE

I just heard big praise for both Outlast and Condemned yesterday on Spawnwave. I definitely need to try those.

The real crime is Resident Evil not being on your top 5, or even top 1.

Nope. Those 5 at the top do horror much better in my eyes. RE is too action based most of the time (though RE7 and RE2 Remake do a marvelous job of trying to buck the trend).

I can't agree RE1 is too action based, it and RE7 is tense during the whole time, even if most of time you aren't facing any enemy.
