Thats a fine and well position for someone who is just gonna take a game as a player/customer and wont have any sort of deep analysis of it other than his own personal experience/enjoyment with it, but someone who reviews games/movies/music/anyartform professionally - and its basically their job and get paid to do it -  cant have such a limited criteria. When it comes to film for example you take screenplay, visuals, editing, music, acting, directing and find the value (or lack thereof) in each individual part.

I wasn't aware Chrkeller was I professional reviewer! DonFerrari told him he would be wrong to rate certain games under 6 and that's what I was reacting too. That aside, I do agree that if you work for an organisation you have to get in line with a certain way of reviewing games because the publication has to have some common ground between all its reviews no matter who does it.

About the film reviews, yes every individual parts are taken into account but it doesn't mean a score of 25 is "wrong" for a movie like The Lion King even though it excels in some categories.

I said that if he reviewed that game and gave it that score he would be objectively wrong.

If he just want to say he didn't had fun with the game so he don't like it or evaluate highly then that is totally his right.

The thing is for review to have any value it must fit in standard and consistency trying to be as objective as possible. Not just "I liked" or "I didn't like" and gave a score for review based solely on how much fun you had.

I wasnt refering to him at all, I meant to say that while I understand your criteria (your personal ejoyment) for rating games, reviewers (in general) need to take all aspects into consideration, we are on the same boat on that point, Im just saying I kinda understand where DonFerrari is coming from, because - to put it in a certain way - if you give a 6 to a film that has 9-10 in every aspect, except one, and said one is a 4-5, then you need to have a good case to ignore all the 9-10 and give it a 6 overall.

I was briefly talking about this subject recently. When I said that I would, based on how much I enjoyed it, rate a certain game 4 or 5 out of 10.

I'll leave out what game that was, because it received nothing but 10's and 9's, so people would probably have something to say about it.

But I also added that if I were to rate the game from the perspective of a critic, I would have to give it a significantly higher rating.
Because I can't ignore how well executed certain aspects of the game were, even if some of them either weren't for me, or didn't do enough to boost my overall enjoyment.

Let's say it is fair to take 1 or 2 points from a game that is perfect in every single aspect but bored you, but makes no sense to defend a reviewer that gave 3,5-6 on a game that is a 85+

This game will be short-lived, a one-time experience to see the plot and that's it, the replay-factor is certainly zero. I hope the next kojima game to be a survival horror that can merge plot and a traditional gameplay most people expect.

The game is very long it seems.

And no thank you for your proposition.

There are so many games available that I have a hard time on why people complain about a game or another being the type of game they want.

I'm salty.

I think it's funny that you are still on the Death Stranding topic. You are jaleous, you don't have any games to play ? I don't go to Nintendo topics because I don't care. The fact that you are still here made me think you are very much salty.

I get that you are unhappy that you can't play the game, and I'm aware that PlayStation domination make you sad, but it's been more than 20 years now. Time to grow up.

85 on Metacritic sounds great for Death Stranding, but I don't know if I'll get it. I haven't seen much gameplay of it tbh.

Another review came in, meta is now 85 from 75 reviews!

A god awful disapointment of a score, anything less than 99 is unacceptable. Kojima blew it! That man will never work in this town again and Sony will loose billions over this, hell it might actually put them out of business, no wonder they put it on PC. I'm going to wait for the Xbox one X version once Sony goes under and maybe they'll patch in the fun by then.

^^

Nice. I was spot on with my prediction (if it stays at 85).

A lot of reviews criticize the game hard for being boring across big stretches, and then gives a high score cause it's a Kojima game. If it was anybody else it would getting Days Gone level scores.

I see a lot of you saying that actually.

"But it's because it's Kojima".

I saw a video from a guy who was saying Breath Of The Wild used the old Assassin's Creed mechanic but since it's Nintendo, everybody is saying "genius" instead of bashing the game. What do you think about that ? Me nothing because I haven't played the game. You do not have played Death Stranding so keep quiet about that kind of comment.

Which AC are you talking about? I haven’t played them lately.

but I did got bored with BOTW

I don't know the guy in the video said it was from a 10 years old AC. He did not say the title exactly. I thought it was the first one. I stopped AC after the third one.
