I am confused by oh so many things.  For starters media bias against Sony...  GoW, Horizon, Spiderman, Uncharted, TLoU have all scored incredibly well.  With the latter titles being some of the highest rated games ever created.  UC4 scored brilliantly and absolutely was more of the same, with very little to no changes to the formula.

Also MHW is more of the same....  MHW had some drastic changes that made the game far more accessible.  Have you played the MH series?

I think the larger problem is one game gets a 90 and another gets a 88 and people rage because the scores are different.  When in fact, take into account a 95% confidence interval, statistically the scores aren't actually different.  Point being, relax chief, a few points doesn't mean anything.

I don't know what is so confusing. Horizon got more GOTY's than games like Super Mario Odyssey and Persona 5 despite scoring lower. GOW got more GOTY's than RDR 2 despite scoring lower. Spiderman got more GOTY's than games like MHW, Celeste or SSBU despite scoring lower. Lol even Detroit Become Human, a 78 metacritic game, received more GOTY's than better rated games like Far Cry 5 (81), AC Odyssey (83), Yakuza 6 (83) or Dragon Quest XI (86). There's a clear pattern here... and I'm pretty sure Death Stranding will end having more GOTY's than most games that received better scores this year. I don't think it won't surprise anyone here.

So yeah, you can think there is bias from the reviewer or bias when when GOTY's are given. I just prefer to believe in the the latter.

I played some of MH psp games, but i didn't like them at all, like you said, very unnacessible for me at the time. Then i played MHW more than 50h with a friend until i got bored of it. It was a fun game until then indeed and i did enjoyed it, thanks to those improvements. But yes, the game concept was the same as the first ones. Nothing really revolutionary. an 8/10 game for me.

And yes..., i agree on your last sentence. Gaming scores, more even if they're just a few points of difference are meaningless and not important. The original rant went for the usual suspects gaming reviews giving 5/10's, 6/10 or 7/10's....and then dedicating lot of articles of the same game because they want the drama and the clicks. And they know PS exclusives are popular and there's a lot of console warring and all of that, so they instigate this, so people lime me and you spent some useless time talking about them . That was my original point. Nobody talks about the 9/10 review but that 6'8 one....mmmm yammy!!.

It's like what American Sports media does every day with NBA drama and fake discussions to get more audience.

I always assumed the score versus GotY awards were driven by reviewing being a single person, while awards are driven by a committee.  I like reviews, but it is important to bear in mind that a review is a single person's opinion.

Personally I will be surprised if Death receives any GotY awards.

Im sure theres a checklist you have to go through.
How are the graphics? the story? the gameplay? the bugs ect.

Im not a reviewer, but I feel like just "my gut" feeling is I dont like it, so it ll just give it a 35, for click bait, isnt something that should be allowed.
The "its just my opinion man" shouldnt be allowed.

Theres needs to be some formula to follow, that means if things are up to pair, it atleast scores a 50.
Theres just no way to justify a 35 review score for this.

IMHO, only one thing should count towards the final score.  Fun Factor/Entertainment.  Was it fun, nothing else matters.

Reviewers review the quality of a game,.... not its fun factor.
Even though Im sure that does factor into it.

But this is my point.
There needs to be a standard... and its clear this review isnt following it.

I was off by 10 points which Is far more than i expected, oh well i will find out when i play it if the game is just divisive or if it does deserve that score

I realize how reviews work, I just disagree with the formula.  Technical qualities are interesting, but ultimately don't matter, IMHO.  If a game is fun, it is fun.  If it isn't fun, it isn't fun.  Technical aspects do not make a game good.

Edge reviewer says there won't be a review in this or the next issue because he got bored and didn't finish it.

That's true, and i know that, but it proves my point that when reviewers can't represent correctly the value and the reception the game is gonna get..., then what's the point of having reviews from just one person in the first place?? What's the purpose of a review then??

And lol, Dreath Strading will be top contender for GOTY awards anyways. Despite all of this drama is still an 85/100 game among critics. It will receive more than 20 or 30 at least..., you'll see.

Death Stranding seems to be a much more movie-wannabe than a game, like Quantic Dream games. MGS have a lot of focus on plot but there is also a consistent gameplay.

I love this quote from the Easy allies Review:

"You are supposed to be bored and that's intentional. Its a good thing"...  8/10

That was an actual thing they said?

The short version, basically it goes on how the game has created intentional boredom, long silent moments, isolation...

Another short version could be:

'Great ideas, execution dissapointing' 8/10

For me I don't read a bunch of reviews.  I tend to find a reviewer that has similar tastes as mine.  I think that is the key.  As an example, Eurogamer tends to align well with my gaming preferences.  While Sterling is out in left field.

Maybe, I don't follow awards too closely.  I was just thinking the competition will be fierce with LM3, Sekiro, RE2, FE, Pokemon, Astral and LA.  I am sure there are others I am not thinking about.

Thats how you justify bad review + clickbait + trolls ect.

So I heavily disagree.
