Forums - Nintendo Discussion - What are your gyro preferences?

Never used gyro controls in a first person shooter, but Splatoon and Gravity Rush are games that perfected the use of gyro controls.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

My son swears by it (despite repeatedly washing his mouth out with soap) for Splatoon 1 & 2 but I never got used to it and have it turned off.

I swear my son was the opposite both him and my daughter emphatically told me never turn on motion aiming again when they are playing splatoon

Yeah, right stick for turning the camera, gyro for fine tuning the reticule for me too.

Haven't played Overwatch on Switch, but I used gyro in Doom, Wolfenstein II, and Splatoon 2.

I'm so glad that the Switch is keeping motion aiming alive, in my opinion it is far superior to analogue stick alone.

It definitely is superior but I miss the accuracy on pointer controls like what they had in Resident Evil 4 on Wii.

Yeah I miss the pointer too, it was also spectacular in Metroid Prime 3 and Sin & Punishment Star Successor.

Still, I'm thankful that gyro has at least saved me from being stuck with just an analogue stick, which to me just feels extremely dated.

How come you never tried Splatoon? If you like gyro-aim and team based shooting you'd surely enjoy the game that popularized this control scheme.

I have always struggled using the analog stick for aiming. I just can't control it fast enough with precision.
Gyro aiming brought me the shooting experience I never had in consoles b4.

Analog for rough movements, and Gyro for mid and fine tuning. But in 3rd person like botw, I don't even the analog. Turn the character in the position I want, zl to change the camera in direction the character is facing, aim and the rest of running is with Gyro.
