Honestly, I highly doubt Obsidian would make a game that forces you to talk 60% of your gameplay time, but I get the gist of it...and (as old school cRPG gamer and recently returning from 30 year hiatus pen & paper RPG gamer) I say - Great.

Because way too often modern RPGs (and Pseudo RPGs) heavily favour 2 pillars (combat and exploration) over the 3rd one (social interaction) and seeing game that isn't shy to go more heavy on it (like many cRPGs of the past) is right up my alley.

Fair perspective to take.  We are just on different sides of the spectrum, which is why it is nice to see gaming have diversity.  The game, while perhaps not for me, looks very good.  Enjoy.

Thanks, I hope I will, it is after all made by guys who made some of my all time favourite cRPGs. And don't get me wrong, in let's say dungeon crawler like Souls, that 3rd pillar is really not that important, so I don't mind it being the weakest of 3, but in RPGs that tend to be based on all 3, I always hope for them to be balanced.

I'm on the fence with this one. Something about the character models bothers me, as if they didn't know whether to go for realistic or cartoony and landed in a bad place somewhere in between. I guess it's part of the goofy/zany vibe that I'm getting from the game and that's not my thing either.

That's weird. My Pre-install was only 17gb...

Hmm... I'll have to have another look when I get home. I may have just read it wrong.

Seems as though it may settle at 86.

so did you check install size?

Yes, my pre install was 17.1gb. I'm now wondering if I had accidentality disabled auto-updates and perhaps the difference is the day one patch.

My pre-install was about 36GB. Looking forward to starting it this weekend!

I don't know if the game is good or not but they've done a really poor job of making me want it. The hook they're pushing seems to be, "it involves lots of dialogue!" I don't know what anything is about or why I should care for the characters, the world, or the story.

Ah yes of course that likely explains the difference!

Game is excellent so far. Good to see Obsidian back to making big 3D titles.

I'm very disapointed with the visuals and the performance, if it wasn't for the 'smooth motion' setting on my TV I would not be able to play it but even with it I feel queasy with the insanely liberal use of chromatic aberration and no setting I can find to turn it off. I havn't played on my OG yet but it looks like that'll be my system as it is hooked up to a smaller screen and if that isn't enough to offset I'll drop it in hopeful wait for a patch. It looks like Sean Murry fucked Todd Howard and this unholy love child was raised by an Xbox 360.

Given the pedigree of the dev, that's not an unexpected complaint. As far as my TV's "smooth motion", I've always found it an unacceptable substitute for a good game engine. Just unacceptable in general really, on any TV I've ever had. And I've been "blessed", by Jesus I guess, to always be on the cutting edge of TV tech.

Hossana in the highest.

What console are you playing it on? I have been playing it on the X and PC and I think the game looks good especially for a Open Sandbox type of game. Its no Gears 5 but that's expected for the ambition type of game The Outer Worlds is.
