Yeah, cause the EU is totally the same as the CCP, they too are acting like a Nazi regime, committing genocide on Uyghurs, forceful organ harvesting, running concentration camps, violating multiple human rights, I too am afraid of the EU extradition bill where UK will deport me to Germany if I speak negatively about them and I'll never be seen again.

EU is super scary, totally the same thing as CCP, being apart of the European Union is totally the same thing as CCP trying to encroach on Hong Kong. God I fear for my life living in EU, and Brexit was totally voted for the same reasons as the reasons the Hong Kong people are fighting for cause all movements are the exactly the same, right?

Speaking as someone who was on the fence at the start of Brexit, who lives in UK and is now anti-Brexit for various reasons which I won't get into, not only are you talking complete and utter nonsense, your comparison of the EU to CCP is frankly offensively ridiculous.

Again, brush up on your knowledge of what the Hong Kong people are fighting for.

And I'll say again, I'm not going to debate the specifics of Brexit with you since firstly this isn't the thread for that, secondly, I've seen you around the site more than enough to see that it's like talking to a brick wall, anything said will be met with a ridiculous rebuttal, as the basis of this whole debate is on.

Actually, why am I bothering right now.

Committing genocide on Uyghurs ? That's news to me, do you actually have a source to back this claim up or is this irrational fear mongering on your part ?

The only good thing that the EU has over the CPC is an exit mechanism for now ...

I firstly dissagree with you saying it is contradictory but even when you are right about that, does it disclaim people being right about protesting for Hong Kongs human rights?

In another thread you thought you had disproven cllimate change because you could point out a few populistic politicians being wrong while completely ignoring the science behind it so i'm just saying that you connect the wrong information to convince yourself being in the right about these sort of things.

Why the fuck on earth are you creating a strawman here ?

I have NEVER claimed that the science behind climate change was ever wrong ...

The only disagreement that I have about climate change is whether or not it poses as an issue ...

So you just admit that you have not invested thought into the science because you would have been able to see that it poses an issue if you did.

How ridiculous to deny that such a thing poses an issue,such a rather well documented issue if you consider our planet its past,so you basicly did claim the science behind it is wrong.

But keep mixing up what politicians say with facts and use those to to disprove decennia of scientific research,if that delusion keeps you happy.

Edit: Ironic that you call me out for creating a strawman as you jump from strawman to strawman to please your own beliefs.

He's right. People shouldn't trust journalists, economists, scientists, academics, or experts of any kind. People should just sit on their couch, knock back a beer, mull over an issue for a few minutes, and then go with their gut feeling.

It's because you actually are making a strawman ...

@bold And what's more is you also made a jump in logic as well ...

What's an issue is a matter of opinion, not a fact thus it has nothing to do with science ...

There's plenty of articles about the detention camps in China for Uyghurs, and the 're-education' camps which are attempting to make them renounce Islam, speak only Mandarin, along with outspoken Uyghurs mysteriously vanishing like Tiyip who was facing execution, multiple accounts of Uyghur women being forced to undergo abortions and/or contraception.

Just search "Uyghur China" it's as easy as that, there's dozens of articles, I'll let you decide which one isn't fake news, cause I have a feeling any articles I post won't be good enough for you and just be 'irrational fear mongering' It would help if you did your research before comparing EU to CCP though.

Lmao @bold, If we want to talk about irrational fear mongering, comparing EU to CPC is definitely that.

Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide

Article II

In the present Convention, genocide means any of the following acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnical, racial or religious group, as such:

  1. Killing members of the group;
  2. Causing serious bodily or mental harm to members of the group;
  3. Deliberately inflicting on the group conditions of life calculated to bring about its physical destruction in whole or in part;
  4. Imposing measures intended to prevent births within the group;
  5. Forcibly transferring children of the group to another group.

China ticking the boxes for A, B, C and D.

I know of the mass incarcerations but that is a far cry from your claim of the 'genocide' you speak of ...

In no way is the CPC committing to "mass killings" of the Uyghurs so it's just irrational fear mongering on your part ...

What the CPC are doing does NOT meet the formal definition of genocide ...

Well I was going to get Overwatch on Switch, but not now.

to be fair I would also boycott a 30fps version of that game while Paladins has existed on the Switch for well over a year now and that's a locked 60fps always.

Haha, true that, but point being Overwatch was the main Blizzard game I was thinking of getting (maybe Diablo?) but I won't be buying anything from them anymore, not for any platform. In fact, I might even pirate their stuff instead. Just as an extra fuck you to them.

Out of curiousity, do you hold shares in Tencent?

Just wondering but how many of the "boycott Blizzard" people are boycotting anything and everything associated with China?

Well let's be honest I basically need Amazon at this point so no I won't be boycotting them. To me the issue isn't MERELY being associated with China (I'm not naive, I understand a number of Chinese companies at least have a small stake in US and Western corporations these days), but actively banning/censoring/depriving individuals and their speech simply because said statement may affect their bottom line and piss off the Chinese government - especially if the statement isn't even controversial by any stretch of the imagination. THAT is where I draw the line.

So yeah.. You bet your ass I'm done with the NBA as well.

It's a shame b/c the Bulls are my second favorite team after the Cubbies, but I've still got them, Bears, and Blackhawks I can watch.

I hate the Chinese government, so I've been moving towards boycotting everything from them for a long time now. It's really hard, because they have their grubby hands in everything, but the more from them I can successfully boycott, the better. Also, buying local has tons of other benefits as well, such as helping small business and the environment, so I've got a lot of incentive to do what I can here.

I won't be boycotting Chinese restaurants though, because one, it's fucking delicious, and two, the Chinese food in US restaurants has been pretty Americanized anyway, and three, they're US citizens, not the Chinese government, so I've no beef with them.

So we're going to play the game of revisionism now ?

Genos in Greek means race or tribe and the suffix, cide in Latin means killing ...

The CPC in no way are they attempting to eliminate the Uyghurs ...

So just to be clear, answer both of those questions for me, in a concise, clear manner. Yes/No is better.

1) Are the actions of the EU as bad the CPC?

2) Is the CPC committing genocide?
