At the moment, Sony won’t cop to exact details about the SSD—who makes it, whether it utilizes the new PCIe 4.0 standard—but Cerny claims that it has a raw bandwidth higher than any SSD available for PCs. That’s not all. “The raw read speed is important,“ Cerny says, “but so are the details of the I/O [input-output] mechanisms and the software stack that we put on top of them. I got a PlayStation 4 Pro and then I put in a SSD that cost as much as the PlayStation 4 Pro—it might be one-third faster." As opposed to 19 times faster for the next-gen console, judging from the fast-travel demo.

Then that would be the lie he would be telling.

Yep. That is the claim he made.
The Raw bandwidth of a PC SSD setup can absolutely dominate the Playstation 5, even if the PC was theoretically using PCI-E 2.0 and the Playstation 5 was using PCI-E 6.0.

I get it, the console manufacturers need to promote their hardware as much as possible to attract consumers, but every generation we get inaccurate "power" claims like this.

I have nothing against saying he is being hyperbolic or not being transparent. I just wanted to clarify what he said, and that what was said in here would contradict he to the point of lying instead of just exaggerating a little.

Just look above. He was very specific on the SSD on PS5 comparing to PC not to console, also since no console had SDD standard the comparison and phrasing used on the entire interview would be pretty wrong.

I must've missed that!

But I will say that for now I am just waiting for the reveal event where all this info is more tangible.

As long as the PS5 loads software (and the UI) better than the PS4, that is all that matters to me.

No problem. And I do agree with you on Pema that Cerny may not be 100% transparent and that he is pushing something to claim "the most powerful ever" with several caveats that he is not keen on saying.
