Forums - Sales Discussion - Detroit Become Human: More than 3,2 Million Units on PS4

Pretty disappointing for a 100 million userbase-system, I suppose most sales came from preorders, when people didn't know the game wasn't that good

It's actually not bad at all for a new IP and considering that this game became free on PS plus in July.

These movie like games are nowhere as popular as God of War, Uncharted or Spider-Man dude.

I hope they will stay as niche as possible, we don't need games like this

My big issue with the game is that it expects people to feel bad for a robot. Throughout the playthrough I was most curious about how they were going to explain the robot's ability to have these emotions in a believable way. Like maybe a human being got transported into the body of a robot, and Kara was a human all along; I could suspend my disbelief for something like that, but nope.

And I suppose those of you who don't quite understand what I'm saying might suggest that "the game encourages you to make your opinions and choices", but if you're thinking that, you're missing my point. It's more of a bigger problem with the fact that they portrayed robots as though they were human beings in the first place.

I think I'm coming off as being harsh, so I want to clarify that I did have fun with the game. Me finding the premise of the game to be nonsensical didn't completely destroy my motivation to keep playing. But making a connection to the characters you control and wanting them to succeed makes it more impactful, and unless I pretended like they weren't machines, I had a hard time with this.

It's meta-critic is a 78, so that might have a lot to do with it.

Not a ton of games achieve sales of 3.2 million on a single platform; do you really believe that if a game sells under 3.2 million it must not be good?

But let's be honest here; you're just being a troll.

C'mon. You're talking about it as if it's an unquestioned blight on the art form. It seems as if more people like it than not. I do own it, as well as having it as part of my PS+ sub, but I can't comment personally, as I've never played it. I may legit end up not liking it.  But the "we" stuff is out of place. There's plenty of room for more "laid back" games like Detroit. Just wait till you hit your 40's or 50's young buck.

Ah... shame. Maybe the sequel will do better next time.

What's going on here?

78 isn't really good you know for a high-budget Playstation exclusive.

And no, I don't say 3.2 millions of sales or less show that games aren't good. It's actually quite the opposite, as I am fan of Bayonetta 2 which sold very poorly (but got a 92 on Metacritic. This game wouldn't have sold that much if people knew what they were buying.

Same thing will happen with Death Stranding.

And don't accuse people of trolling when you don't agree with them.

By "we" you mean "you" right? As if there isn't enough games coming out that you need all of them to be tailored to your needs right?

Look what the success of PUBG created, a great amount of battle-royale games. I don't want the whole inustry starts to make games like Detroit just because it could potentially sell well.
