As I said before, XBox360 had no impact on PS2 sales. It had quite a bit of an impact on PS3 sales. Your argument that "Switch does not compete directly with Playstation and XBox" is not a good one. When the XBox360 was released it did not compete with the PS2. A person could have said "XBox360 does not compete with Playstation, therefore it won't compete with PS3". That person would be dead wrong. Let's put it this way. If Scarlett came out this year, it wouldn't affect PS4 sales either. Understand? When Scarlett actually does release next year it also won't affect PS4 sales. Does that mean that Playstation and XBox don't directly compete? In the same way, the data in this thread does not suggest that Switch and PS5 don't compete. |
I'd say that curl is right, and you're wrong. Show me anytime in the history of video games where a handheld directly competes with a traditional, table top console... you cant. The switch isnt an ordinary console. Just as much as the ps4 or 5 are remotely a handheld. Did the ps3 affect the 3ds? Did the xbox360? Did the ps4, or x1? No... they didnt. The switch is operating it's own market. Theres nothing, data wise, you can use to say the ps5 will do anything to the switch. The switch and ps5 or scarlet dont directly compete... anymore than the ds did with the ps2 or ps3, or the 3ds did with the ps3 or ps4....
