That's some amazing launch week for the Lite, I'm sitting here re-downloading 400GB of games onto my New Switch V2, not sure what that would be called... the one with the better battery lol, Nintendo are killing it with the switch both in hardware and fantastic software, it's rare to see a week pass without a title on the Switch in the high 80s or into the 90's even on meta. Unifying their games vision from 3DS+WiiU into all the Switch has made for an amazing system for those who are jumping on board with it (EA just dropped an utter turd of a Legacy Fifa2020 on the console which just sold 600k in a week, so good job them) However.... I am going to say one negative to the current boom, actually... it's a sort of 2 for one deal ye can take away from it what you want. All of their eggs are in one basket (a basket based on an Nvidia shield which was not new hardware when Nintendo put their logo and breath of the wild on it) and also... when you're riding so high like this, there is but one way to go. (it is rarely further up).

Phenomenal week though, I mean when you hear about a few cases of people having issues with their Switch lite's coming out of the box it kinda sets minds at ease when you consider that even if 1000 of them came out of the box and exploded into tiny shards of metal and plastic... it would still be a failure rate of 0.2% of the systems, which is well in line with industry norms, it would actually be a fantastic low amount of them dying on launch.

Now..... I'm gonna get back to trying to bend a paper clip for my OG Switch.... for no reason what so ever.

I went through the exact same procedure about two weeks ago when I got my Mariko Switch. Had to transfer first my accounts and hope everything went well. Then download all the digital games which was close to 400gb, and then pop every physical game in a update them. I have about 200 or more titles in total.

This is probably only going to impact a tiny number of people as well... but why is there no real download queue control, also the download queue seems limited to what... about 30 games at a time? With no error message to alert you that games after that aren't added to the list.

Also you might want to check out games with dlc, I had a few like Superbeat Xonic and Tetris 99 which only downloaded the DLC but not the games needed to play them I had to navigate to Tetris 99's own page... on the US store to be able to download it (the EU store where my online account is just says the game is purchased with no option to download) the thing is, I work in IT support and teaching IT support and I'm running into issues with this, the average kid is just gonna be crying his eyes out and thinking he'll just start a new Nintendo account on it instead and dad can just buy him the games again on that, it'll be easier.

Why don't they just let you hop the SD card from one Switch into the other and rebuild the game DB like the Vita got so perfectly right... I mean if your system is less friendly than the Vita's one you're in trouble.

Switch finally overtakes PS4 in yearly sales for the first time ever after 9 months into this year. PS4 did well in it's 6th year although Nintendo had to switch back into a cheap dedicated handheld sku to do it.

Perhaps it's the Nintendo fanboy in me making me interpret your post this way, but it sounds like you're saying that because Nintendo put in effort to achieve greater sales that somehow lessens their accomplishment. That would be backwards thinking for sure.

I think this will be the narrative going forward if Switch continues to dominate sales. "Oh it's only because they have a cheap 199 version" lol

FFVII: Remake comes out on March 3rd, Animal Crossing comes out on March 20th.

The Switch isn't competing with the PS4.  It is competing with the PS5.

Nah, it won't directly compete with PS5 either. It's a totally different value proposition and sells for totally different reasons. PS5 will fill the same niche as PS4, if Switch doesn't compete with one, it won't compete with the other.

This sounds like a reasonable explanation, but it doesn't fit with the sales history of consoles.  The XBox360 launched in 2005 and had absolutely no impact upon PS2 sales.  Do you also think the XBox360 had no impact upon PS3 sales?

Hmmm, I didn't have that much trouble. All my saves and content were there. It recognized them. I tested out a couple games to verify. First was BotW, to check if all my dlc was there and my saves too. Then I checked Splatoon 2 to check if my progress was still there. Also went right. Then I check Smash Bros and Rocket League. All went fine. My problem was rather the large amount of games that I have. As for the downloading itself.. I did it alphabetically, so I didn't do 30 at a time. It was a process of about 3 days in total. The region issues... I have had no problems with it. I have a separate US account that I needed to download my imported Megaman collections. Stupidly half of the collection was a download code. So I switched to the US account and easily redownloaded those halfs. This... is... so.. much better than the Vita if you've ever tried buying another game on your vita from another region.. digitally. It's a nightmare.

As for the SD card issue. Most definitely has to do with anti-hacking or piracy measures. If you're mentioning the Vita in the same sentence, best also consider that it's at least not an expensive proprietary format.

Hence the potentially. I could have said Death Stranding instead, might have better chances.

One week I'm fairly sure the PS4 can win is the Final Fantsy VII remake release week in early March. But that will also be it's last hurrah, as it will go quickly downhill from there, with the successor coming out half a year later...

Isn't Animal Crossing releasing in the same week ? If the case, then I'd say no chance of that happening.

Actually, Cyberpunk 2077 has probably a better shot than FF7R

No chance? You're clearly underestimating how badly the gaming community wants FF7 Remake. Especially the fact that they've added the turn based option back in it. Nah my vote is definitely FF7 Remake and Cyberpunk 2077. They will win both weeks. The holidays will be interesting indeed. PS4 may be able to pull a month away from Switch if they do a permanent price drop. That's a big maybe. Otherwise I don't see PS4 taking any more months away from Switch.

Pretty good numbers all around. I wonder how high the Switch can maintain itself throughout october before November rush comes around. Still no price drop for the PS4, makes me wonder how much the ps5 is gonna cost

I'm not saying it cant or won't win those weeks but shouldn't it be assumed that the majority of people interested in FF7 or 2077 already have a PS4? (Or XB/PC in 2077s case)

Those games will be huge software sellers but I'm not sure if the system selling potential will be huge.
