Forums - Nintendo Discussion - House of the Dead 1 and 2 remakes coming to Switch

SOURCE

Yay! And these are full-on remakes, not ports of the original games, probably because Sega lost the source code for the originals, but still great news all the same.

I've said in the past Switch's joy con controls would be ideal for light gun games making their way onto the Switch, and while an actual light gun would be preferable, this would be a suitable alternative to the traditional light guns which sadly don't work, anymore on modern games.

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh. Hella buy right here yall.

NIce, it's refreshing to see Sega actually remember their IP as of late and the potential it has.

Whoa! I wonder how the aiming will work?

Compatible with VR perhaps?

You figure?

Anyhoo. I usuallly don't come into threads to be negative, but...

These games were the most shallow of Sega's "shallow series" of arcade ports. Fun in short bursts at best. And disposable flotsom at worst. Sega's utter lack of understanding of what was important in a home port was on full display in the HOTD games. Despite Namco having shown them how to do it properly several years earlier. If any IP deserved Uwe Boll at it's cinematic helm, it was House Of The Dead.

Should also have thrown in a port of Overkill while they're at it...

Overkill is awesome!

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I'd buy them for Switch if they are in fact full remakes. I guess they won't really work in Handheld mode or on Switch Lite though.

He was also on tap to direct a Fear Effect movie, which thankfully never happened. The same guy who chewed out the original writers of Alone in the Dark for not featuring slimy dog monsters, long gun fights or gratuitous sex scenes got the rights to Fear Effect after the second game came out. Gee, I wonder what gave him that idea?

But as a fan of both light gun games and (mostly) any and all things zombies, I enjoyed the House of the Dead games and look forward to playing the remakes on Switch with the joy con controls, though I do wish they'd bring back Virtua Cop.
