...you people still act like this in 2019?

Switch will have the definitive version of all your favourite games

I played the more visually advanced version of the game on my pS4 Pro. While I still think VIII is the best title in the series, XI comes at a close second and I had a blast playing it.

Now the Definitive version comes out with overall downgraded visuals yet it still look close enough to the first version i played. But it comes with lots of added content and improvements to what was already a stellar JRPG.

I don’t know why so many act all butthurt over the fact some gamers get an improved version after having to wait much longer to get the game.

Personally, I’m replaying it for the first time since the PS4 version and I enjoy what they did to improve it. Makes the game feel fresh again.

If we were talking about a game like DOOM, which was 1080p 60fps on PS4 and on Switch it's 720/576p at 30fps and also lost a lot of visual detail, I would agree with you: the Switch version should score less. Because the difference is big enough to make a relatively negative impact on both graphics and gameplay (although I must say DOOM is one of the best games the Switch can offer, third party or not, even at 30fps)

And it does: 79 for Switch, but 85 for the PS4 and PC version and 87 for the Xbox One version on Metacritic. So Switch-version got a lot subtracted for the downgraded visuals.

Looks worse and performs worse, cannot take any of those reviews seriously.

Well, this is too funny, because the PS4 version looks and performs worse than the PC version, still it scores 6 points higher. And they have exactly the same content, only PC has more than 30 fps and a much higher resolution.

I gotta add my 2 cents here.

Face it guys, it's simple. They scored it higher simply because it's on the switch....and, obviously, it has less reviews (over half less) than it did on PS4. It has a lot of room for the rating to go down still.

I am just gonna leave this right here...DOOM scored an 85 on PS4, but a 79 on Switch...

You wanna know what these scores and the scores for DQXI have in common?  The version with less/missing features (DOOM on Switch lacked level creator) scored less than the versions that had more features regardless of platform...who would have thought?

Playing the game right now. Is it me or the voice audio sounds bad? Almost as if it was recorded with low quality tools. Could be compression but I truly have no idea.

My bet with The_Liquid_Laser: I think the Switch won't surpass the PS2 as the best selling system of all time. If it does, I'll play a game of a list that The_Liquid_Laser will provide, I will have to play it for 50 hours or complete it, whatever comes first.

This 100%. 4 early points in Meta is nothing for a "definitive" edition that runs at a lower resolution. I have plated this game on the Pro a year ago. It still won't sell as well in the West as a lot of people picked this up for cheap on PS4 and PC over the year. I highly doubt there is a lot of people who waited the year to play this other than the die hard fans and want to play it on a handheld system.

Actually sales in the west for the game were rather lackluster compared to expectations, and most sales were from Japan.  Also the game had a poor release window with a lot of competition on PS4.

Having said that the release window on Switch is a lot better and many people (myself included) passed on the PS4 version to wait for the Switch release.  Either way, it is a win for SE because the game will undoubtedly sell very well on Switch.  I would not be suprised in the least if it sold more in the West for this version however, and that is good for everyone as it shows increased interest in an IP that SE seemed to think had a smaller audience outside of Japan.

No matter what version you prefer, if you are a fan of DQ and do not live in japan, you should be cheering this version of the game on rather than downplaying it.

DQ11 PS4 sold way above expectations (in the West and in Japan). It was the best first month sales for any Dragon Quest ever in the West and is the best selling entry in the West. The Switch version could very well outsell the PS4 version, but let's not revise history to imply that the game has somehow underperformed.

According to VGC, it sold 0.29 mil in NA and 0.22 mil in EU on PS4.  No revision needed, those sales are lack luster no matter how you want to look at it.  And TBH, if their expectations were any lower than what it sold, that just further proves my point of how little SE sees the sales potential outside of Japan currently.

Does anybody have both the PS4 version and the Switch version? What's the comparison of loading times on Switch and PS4 Pro?

I already own this game on PS4, but am heavily considering getting it for Switch. I just don't want to run into insanely long loading times. Like Witcher 3 on a base level PS4 loading times.

SE fault for not advertising it hard outside Japan, the game is miles better than anything FF, yet consumers love buying the garbage latter.
