Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Ori and the Blind Forest on Switch upgraded over Xbone/PC version

Tried the demo; it's not my cup of tea but I still hope it does well as it is clearly very well crafted.

Is there any chance of a physical release? I would much prefer it.

Hard to even guess at this point. Some digital-only Switch games have later seen physical release, but it can take a long time, and even for some rather big ones like FAST RMX and Hellblade it hasn't happened.

Can't make any promises but--I bought the original, played it for a little while and it didn't hook me. Then I tried the definitive edition (I think it was free) and stuck with it. After an hour or so, it clicked and I couldn't stop playing it.

Some games hook you from the opening scene. Others reel you in slowly. The "create your own checkpoint" thing took a little getting used to. It's right up there with Hollow Knight for me.

That's funny.

Anyways, yeah, a bit of a silly necrobump, sorry in advance, but I just played the Switch version recently and I gotta say... Ori moving at 60fps certainly is nice, but it's also kinda weird, because most of the other characters are still running at 30fps. It's really jarring when that happens, but to be fair, Ori tends to be the only character on screen for most of the game so I guess all in all it's an undeniable improvement.

I didn't even realize he used to move in 30fps back when I played through this game three times on the PC, it's crazy. Doesn't seem like they ever updated the other versions, either, which is pretty lame.

I'm pretty sure they updated the XBO version. I could be wrong, though.

I don't think they did as I think you have to buy the definitive edition to play an upgraded version as it weren't just a case of a simple patch from what I gather, some reworking had to be done.

My bad. Thought this was the Ori 2 thread!

I did buy the original version for XBO and couldn't get into it. I got the definitive edition and loved it. Can't remember if it was a free upgrade or a discount, though.

Oooh boy, unless they update it for other versions, it seems like some people might get angry at the disparity xP

Angry or not, they should update the other versions too. There's no reason they should miss out on this just because they came out earlier.

Some ToV/ToV PS3 version flashbacks here. OTOH, the PS3 version actually didn't feel better to me (even the DE feels a little off due to soundtrack changes + Grant George Yuri).

On the other hand, Blind Forest is probably already dated, so I guess it makes sense to not bother... unless it was easy.
