Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Mario Kart Tour Subscription-Based Unlockables -_-

As long as they keep it on mobile, I don't care. Get that money and make real games for the Switch.

Does not surprise me.

This game is disgusting.By anyone standards.

The developer being Nintendo just makes it worse.I expected more from them.

Hopefully this is not a bad sign of things to come...

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Who cares? Mobile gamers have shown that they'd rather be nickel-and-dimed then actually get quality products.

This is the model that works for mobile and Nintendo got a big dose of that reality with Super Mario Run and Fire Emblem Heroes.

I don't think it will be. I don't think Nintendo wanted to make ANY mobile games, but they are tired of stockholders harassing upper management about it, so they finally decided to cave a little. Don't they usually have other companies handle these games? If so, I don't think the development of these "games" is going to slow down any AA or AAA games coming out. Plus it will get those trolling shareholders off their backs.

Don't really mind it tbh, looks like they're using assets from mario kart 7 in this game and maps from the same so for Nintendo they put very little into this but will get some decent money back, that up's the money they've got in the bank to spend on more AAA titles on the Switch and more hardware revisions in the future, so some people on mobile get a weird version of Mario Kart, as long as nintendo don't shift over to making games for android exclusively this is just a good thing for all concerned.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Neither do I, but I hate mobile gaming, and I hate even more companies that I care doing stuff like this.

It kinda baffles me that people are brushing this off just because its being done on a platform that they dont use.Much like microtransactions, I believe we need to speak up our minds anytime someone does something wrong. It dosent matter if these payment methods will never cross over to their main business or that ''Its mobile, its ok'', the moment you brush it off, you are a fool and the people that came up with these methods suceessfully managed to get you to accept them, even in a small level.Thats my take anyway.

Is there no way to unlock these same things through grinding/playing the game? Most of these gachas incorporate both paid and free currency, just the latter taking longer to accumulate. I don't mind if some people want to spend money as long as unlockables aren't blocked altogether. Not really interested in paying a sub that I'll likely forget to cancel when I get bored of the game.

Kinda curious if this will take off. I've enjoyed Fire Emblem Heroes and Dragalia Lost...but can't say I've really enjoyed Nintendo's other mobile efforts up to this point. Seems like more misses than hits honestly.

The gamer in me doesn't care because I don't play mobile. The capitalist in me says they should do what is in the best interest of their company.
