Great games everywhere! How it's meant to be.

You should pick up Mario Ody if you've not gotten to play through that as well, it's not as much of a time sink as breath of the wild but still I think during the 35 or so hours I got from it I recall thinking "this is perfect" a number of times during it. Ending or... last maybe 5 minutes of play will put a smile on your face even if you're made of stone I think.

I've "completed" SMO together with my nephew. Such a great game. I still need to play BotW though.

It's awesome but book a week off... family, work.... food, it's just that time consuming, hours will pass where in game you're doing not much more than trekking through fields and getting lost in the wilderness... but it will feel like minutes instead of hours.... minutes instead of days. Everyone I've spoken to about the game ended up shocked at how many hours they clocked up in the game because you can just completely fall into its world and just get lost to it, in a wonderful WoW kinda way I felt.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Yeah, I'l make sure to take my time with it. It looks like it'll be worth it.

It really simple. The Switch Lite is a Switch.

Lol... and that my friend is a cop out. Ok, the vey name switch was becaue it could be used as a "home console" and a "handheld". Hence why the whole ybrid thing came about. Can you use the Switch lite as a home console? So what is it "switching" to?

This whole argument about the Switch lite being counted differently is stupid. Its not a new unique device. Its a PORTABLE ONLY SWITCH. Its still a Switch. Also everyone (NPD, Famitsu, Media Create) will combine them because they dont have weird agenda's, they just report data.

Again, for the umpteenth time (and I am guessing this keeps coming up cause its the best way to dismiss what I am saying). I have never said, that the switch lite be counted differently. I am saying that it (the Nintendo Switch as a platform) being counted along with home consoles was and is a mistake to begin with. And I have been saying that since 2017. The reason its coming up again is that Nintendo just validated my point. They made a switch lite.

Right now? the switch as a platform has more in common with a handheld than a home console, and you don't have to take my word for it... in two years you will find that the switch lite is the better selling iteration of the Nintendo switch with the larger install base. You can chalk this off as yet another prediction I am making, the same way I said (back in 2017)that in under 3 years Nintendo will make a dedicated handheld version of the switch the second they try and make a cheaper version.

Are we just going to continue pretending that the Nintendo Switch lite is not a handheld in every traditional sense of the word?

Switch Lite still is a hybrid you can still play table top mode complete with pro controllers and all.

The problem with calling LITE it's own separate handheld is that it doesn't have differentiating features. Sure it's weaker than the Switch in capabilities, but so does the 3ds. But the 3ds was also 3d.

On top of this, there are no unique games for the LITE. 3ds had it's own lineup of games. If we count LITE as it's own device then it will have terrible sales numbers because it isn't a uniquely dedicated handheld with a unique lineup of games. If it was, I'd buy it myself. As it stands, why would I get it when I can already play those games on my current switch, which I can almost always fit in my pocket? I suspect there are many that would get one of it had unique games, and then we could count it as a legit handheld separate from the Switch. However, because it doesn't have the unique game advantage, I think it would be unfair to call it it's own device for tracking purposes, as it won't sell nearly as much as a unique get backed device like the 3ds would.

But that's the thing... it has the one differentiating feature that literally makes it either a handheld or a hybrid. You CANNOT plug it into a TV. I do not care if it plays all the games or not, or can also support controllers or not. What makes something a home console is that it's tethered to a TV, you cannot use the device without a TV (as such to my original argument in 2017 on why the switch should never have been grouped with home consoles to begin with). What makes something a handheld is that its mobile or on the go, the device can exist in its entirety without a TV because it has its own TV.

It's not about if its weaker or stronger, bigger or smaller. Its about use case/form factor, that is the key differentiator between something being a handheld and a home console. The Switch lite is NOT a home console. Its that simple...

Ok, let me make it simple for everyone...

Is the Nintendo Switch Lite a home console? Or a handheld.

Just on this mode of logic the Vectrex was a home console that didn't require a TV either as it came with it's own screen.

Switch Lite still is a hybrid you can still play table top mode complete with pro controllers and all.

But, the Switch is considered a hybrid due to being a home console and a portable. Table top was really never part of the equation. Switch lite doesn't even have a kickstand, so that function has been nerfed to a significant degree as well.

The important thing to remember, is that the Switch Lite is a portable/handheld console, and naught else. I could give a f*** how it's counted, but look forward to many, many years of this topic being brought up. Hopefully in every sales thread.

The have been consoles that only play in a table top form I gave an example in the Vectrex and due to that it puts table top mode very much in the equation not having a kick stand does not stop this either as the are a number of stands that can be purchased for such Lite is just a portable variation of the Switch platform and even as a portable variation it's still a hybrid.

Well, fair enough. You won't sell me on the idea it's still a hybrid though. I can prop up a Vita with a book, and use a DS4 as a controller, but wouldn't classify it as a hybrid either. Yeah, the Vetrex was a thing, ( had fun with it and always wanted one ), but when classifying the Switch as a hybrid, you know as well as I do, that a close to 100% majority were doing so on the basis that it was/is a combination of a home console and a portable console, as these are the only 2 type of console classifications that have had any relevance in the video game industry in it's entire history.

Wait, what?? So the PS Vita was a hybrid console all along?
