I choose...

NES 6 6.74%

Super NES 40 44.94%

Nintendo 64 13 14.61%

Gamecube 15 16.85%

Wii 9 10.11%

Wii U 6 6.74%

Total:89

The Snes obviously. No console from Nintendo -or another company- has come close to the amount and variety of excelent games it had.

No handhelds or the Switch?

I'd say Gamecube for nostalgia sake but since none of the options handheld options I wanted are on there, I vote Wii.

YOU BROUGHT THIS ON YOURSELVES

The N64 was the most powerful console of the early 3-D days, therefore home to the most ground breaking games in the mid 90s (Mario 64, OoT, GE). To me it was their most impressive system, even though it sold poorly in comparison to the PS1 and the lack of CD based media hurt it.

NDS Lite. So many games, so many good times... I wish I could go back one day xD

Well, I love the NES, the N64 and the Wii. I haven't played too much GC or Wii U, but I know they have great games.

But if I have to pick one, I would choose SNES. It was my first console, and I still love playing it.

N64 always and forever. Too many classics and many favorites. My #1 and #3 favorite game of all time are N64.

N64 > SNES > NES > Wii > GC > WiiU. Judgement on Switch is still out, for now I’d say at least better than GameCube, not as good as SNES. Objectively, for as much as that’s possible, you could probably make the best case for SNES, that console would be also be the top contender for Best Console, period.

For a console where so many games have stood the test of time... SNES.
For the most unique console from a hardware perspective? The Wii U as it's a Hybrid between a fixed and mobile device.
My personal favorite console in regards to the individual games released? The Nintendo 64.

Well, I was thinking of consoles.  I suppose if you count arcades, then I can't count Tetris and Punch-Out.

I think for Tetris he was probably referring to the Gameboy version, which AFAIK was far more popular than the nes version and launched earlier.

I thought the Nintendo version came out on the NES first, but looking it up only the Tengen version came out before the Gameboy version.  Hard to know which platform to credit with Tetris, but the Gameboy is easily the most popular version, so maybe it belongs with those games.

Although the Nintendo NES version of Tetris is still one of its best selling games.  My original point is that you got new amazing games on the NES every year, and Tetris was one of them, even if it was also available on a ton of other platforms at roughly the same time.

@Intrinsic Here we see that disproportionate (to its actual popularity) amount of love for the GCN demonstrated. :P

Personally SNES takes the top spot for me, best combination of great hardware, great first party games, and great third party support.

Next the Wii; it made gaming feel fresh and exciting again, has my all time favourite controller, and hosted plenty of gems like Mario Galaxy 1 & 2, Xenoblade Chronicles, Metroid Prime 3, etc.

N64 next; what it lacked in quantity it made up for by having some of the most groundbreaking games of all time like Ocarina and Mario 64, as well as Banjo Kazooie which was my favourite games of all time for many years.

Wii U in fourth; the droughts were horrid but at least it did have some truly amazing games.

NES and Gamecube kinda tie for the bottom rung for me. With the former, I find almost all its games unplayable today, and with the latter it had the worst first party offerings of any of their systems.

I swear we just did this. I voted for SNES. So did @Pemalite. Anywhoo. SNES.

I checked using the forum search function but couldn't see any recent ones. We had similar threads though; best name for a Nintendo system, best Nintendo hardware revision.

I found the thread I was thinking of. Not exactly the same question, but similar theme at least. I did indeed pick the SNES. And so did @Pemalite. Hiiiii Pemalite!
