The difference between the Switch Lite and DS Lite is that the DS Lite was an objectively better version of the console to have. With the Switch Lite, you are losing a lot of the Switch's core features and limiting the amount of games you can play. Once things settle down I'm curious which SKU will sell better. I feel like in the US the regular Switch model will regularly outsell the Switch Lite, but maybe not in Japan.

Clearly some people are holding out for the Lite, as Switch sales have dropped in anticipation of this release.

The lack of features will be made up for by the lower price point and improved portability. The base Switch will still account for most Switch sales when all is said and done, but there's definitely a place for the Lite as an entry level device. Now that 3DS is over, they need something to fill that cheap portable void.

Indeed, the Lite won't cannibalize OG Switch sales. Both can generate good numbers on their own. I think this week's OG sale won't decrease. I wanna see a 200k+ week

Yeah that's the way I see it, they'll coexist filling different niches. Honestly I think the only thing that'll prevent a 200k+ week for this week is if there's stock problems, which is a distinct possibility as at least one Japanese retailer has already warned customers to expect shortages.

Well, the stock looks to be doing just fine on Amazon. It's still selling at its retail price and can still be ordered. So perhaps it was just exclusive to that one retailer.

Switch Basic: 64k (for the week), vs. 52k for the week before.

Weird to call the better model "basic" xD.

Surprising that the sales of the normal switch didn't drop with the release of the lite.

The Switch got a whole lot of game releases, among them a new Zelda title, but also Ni no Kuni, Cardfight Vanguard EX, Grid Autosport, Devil May Cry 2 and a Dragon Quest Monsters Remake. I'd rather say it would be odd if the sales of the base model didn't rise with so many game releases.

Not bad, just under 180k combined. I was hoping for 150k+ for Lite but that's still a good result and the baseline going forward is more important anyway.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Not massive, but a very good bump. The holiday weeks will be telling though.

I'm guessing combined switch sales of both units won't drop below 90k for the rest of the year.

Think for yourself, question authority

Nice sales. Just as I precited, the OG Sitch went up, will live together without hurting each other. Can we get a 200k then?

Meh/okish numbers, still don't know who the Switch Lite is catered to. Without any type of download play like the DS/3DS had, it becomes an expensive proposition to have multiple Switch Lites in the home having to buy multiple copies of popular local multiplayer games, such as Mario Kart.
