What Do You Think to VGChartz Posting Box Office Charts?

Forums - Website Topics - What Do You Think to VGChartz Posting Box Office Charts?

VGChartz is looking to branch outside of video games and report on charts - and perhaps even news – related to the Movie and TV industry. Reporting on the weekend Box Office figures is our first example of this and maintains the ‘Chartz’ theme.

The writing staff would like to know if this is something the community would like to see become a regular feature of the website. Please leave a post and let us know what you think to this idea.

You can read the first article on the weekend Box Office figures here.

I do think we'd need to find a way to rebrand if this becomes the case, but then again IGN is a good example of a gaming site that branched out... so yeah, I'm all for this!

This feels like a weak attempt at trying to get the "Chartz" part relevant.

Next thing you know we will be officially reporting on politics.

Video games will always be the focus of the site as we report on as many of the charts from around the world as possible and post as much gaming news as possible. The charts on the Box Office would only be a few posts per week. For now we will keep it to just the weekend Domestic Box Office.

We would stay away from politics. The main focus on the branching out would be on the geekier side of things. So reporting the Box Office figures and if we did news movie and TV show it would be limited and focus on stuff like Marvel, DC, Star Wars, etc. Video games will always be the majority of what we write about.

I dont really see the point when there are already sites that do this and much better. If you're going to branch out than it should be with something that's not already extremely accessible because people who are interested in box office data will just check out boxofficemojo where they have an extensive amount of data to look at.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Why not?

Though an effort would be needed to make sure it is something that is discussed in the forums.

I like it. You aren't getting "less" games - you are just getting "Additional" content for not games.

Basically I get more information for a website I already use.

  • Deadliest mass shooting by an individual in US history (10/01/2017)
  • Deadliest high school shooting in US history (02/14/2018)
  • Deadliest massacre of Jews in US history (10/27/2018)
  • Political assassination attempt of TWO former presidents(and 10+ other people)  (10/23/2018 - and beyond)

I hate to post it here...since it is off topic. But if you want to be relevant in videogames or movies or whatever, you must fix the mobile site. It is imperitive. Most people just aren't using PCs or laptops for their online experience.

To be honest, I'm not really into Box Office Charts. But since Video Game Charts are going to continue, I see no problem here.
