Did you buy Astral Chain, and if yes, what did you think of it?

I've been taking notes on collectibles in Astral Chain (work still in progress), so if there's interest in seeing where the harder to find items are (the ones that require the Arrow and Beast legion, respectively) and how many items there are per sub-chapter, I can make the effort to post it all eventually. Sub-chapters refers to the way the game splits up the chapters in Chapter Select where each chapter has between two and nine segments.

I am also doing redshift (?) percentages per sub-chapter, so going for 100% is a bit easier with checkpoints; although a margin of error exists because there are no decimal percentages and there are usually hundreds of redshift icons to remove in each chapter. An example of this is chapter 5 where the segment with the subway entrance features redshift, but not enough to push it to 1%; not an issue in this segment because all redshift is on the main path in plain sight and basically impossible to miss.

Lastly, I am also taking notes on all of the achievement collectibles like cats, toilets, rare slimes and special photos.

Legend11 correctly predicted that GTA IV (360+PS3) would outsell SSBB. I was wrong.

Was going to start it today but I saw there was a patch out for it, what does the patch do and can i play without it fine?

If you can see that there is a patch, you must have an online connection. If you have an online connection, why don't you download it? A couple of minutes (188 MB) can't be an issue.

Here's what the patch does: Sorting, selling and item usage are improved. A few scripting errors were fixed.

Functional Changes and Additions

  • Added Item Sort function to the menu.
  • Multiple goods can now be sold at once at shops.
  • The “Temporary Field Supply” item icon has been adjusted for visual clarity.
  • “Temporary Field Supply” items are those that can only be used during the “FILE” in play
  • When using items from the shortcut menu, “Temporary field supply” items of the same name will now automatically be prioritized and used instead.
  • Added a “Type” category to the ability codes Sort function.
  • Added a function to delete multiple ability codes at once.

General Changes

  • Adjusted game balance.
  • Fixed an issue where quitting the game during the training mode could cause lock ups.
  • Fixed an issue where specific steps would lead to the order “Ark Tourist” being impossible to complete.
  • Fixed an issue where opening the menu and returning to the title screen at a specific timing before an autosave would cause save data to be corrupted.
  • Additionally fixed several issues to allow for a more comfortable gameplay experience.

I have a pirated copy, getting a patch isn't as convenient as getting it legally xD

I got the patch now anyway since writing that comment.

My brother tried to buy it but it was sold out at every retailer in our local area, so he had to get a copy from ebay. That tends to happen with non-megaton games on Nintendo systems around here, they always under-ship. I remember when I picked up Crash Team Racing they had like 3 copies at the store, all of which were spoken for. If you don't preorder, good luck getting any game in the first few weeks unless it's something big like Mario.

On an unrelated note, I still wonder if the reason they haven't shown Bayonetta 3 yet was cos they didn't want to steal Astral Chain's thunder, as Bayo is the more well known IP.

Shoot, that's three more copies than my local Best Buy had for Ys VIII.  It felt like they sent 1 or 2 to every game stop for the first shipment and that was it.

And yeah, probably.  Astral Chain's surprise appearance and rapid hype cycle could have been derailed if all the media outlets started jabbering about Bayonetta from E3 onwards.  And they really couldn't afford that with the release schedule being so crowded.  Shoot, that's another thing to consider: Nintendo probably didn't want too much talk going on about the future releases when they have literally a month or less over the summer to hype up each of their *six* releases coming out in the season.

Yeah that's a good point too. I just really hope we see it soon, I am so, so sick and tired of waiting for it.

I didn’t get it, and not going to. It’s not for me. It’s too flashy-Japanese, and there are numbers on the screen, which means it’ll get too cumbersome down the road.

Finished file 8, such an amazing game. Each file gets better and better.

The final boss is all kinds of insane.

I just finished File 3... and everything just clicked for me. What. A. Game...

Although the camera still likes to fuck with me xD

Just finished file 4 and so far I love this game.. I I've been playing on casual but I'm thinking about upping the difficulty.
