Gears 5

I'm tempted to get a Xbox One for Gears. From my understanding I can download Gears 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5? Same with Halo 1, 2, 3 and Reach?

I've been really enjoying Gears 5. I'm on Act 3, and it's hands down better than Gear 4. I'll say my final verdict of where it stands between all the Gears game once I complete it. There were connection issues early on. I've played some multiplayer today and haven't had any issues yet. Hopefully it will be sorted out once the standard game launches.

Yeah for me Gears 4 didn't really find its footing until Act 4. Out of the gate, Gears 5 does a much better job of establishing a narrative and tying it to fun gameplay set-pieces. I'm on Act 3 as well so far and even with the more open nature of it, I'm enjoying the exploration and side activities. It reminds me of Uncharted: Lost Legacy which I enjoyed a great deal.

It's certainly a good looking game. One of my top best? I wouldn't say that, but very good looking nonetheless...

Yeah I wouldn't say it's one of the best technically in terms of sheer level and quality of effects, but I'll give them credit for getting quality out of effects in their implementation while being performant (super well optimized) as well as selecting the right effects to maintain that Gears look and feel. It's not going for realism per se. The characters and world are very stylized and they've done a good job at tailoring their rendering pipeline to enhancing their particular style effectively.

And the amount of options and attention to detail in the PC version's customizability through the options menu is something other developers could learn from. It's a great example of what PC gamers like to see for settings menus + benchmark.

Keep in mind I'm a console only gamer! But I'm having a hard time thinking of many games that made me say "Damn, this game looks good" as often as I have with this one. God of War, Horizon, maybe Hellblade (but I haven't played it in a while). Plus 4K (dynamic of course) 60fps with HDR is not something I'm really used to.

I don't often look at reviews for games I know I'm gonna buy (and this game was practically free) but I watched Jim Sterling's video and I loved it.

In case you're wondering, he gave it a 2/10.

Here is an interesting video.

This will be one of the first games I buy when I'm able to catch a break during a busy time at work. Both gameplay and graphics look great.

Cheer up

There's a total of 3 users being critical whereas 9 users are praising it. I don't think you should be sad about making the thread.

From what I understand it was generally well recieved. I think the fact that xbox has been abit lacking in exclusives and that It finally got a game that looked up to pair, ment reviewers were abit more generious with scores.

Crowbat is always a good watch. Also, didn't MS promise all 1st party games would be native 4K when the Scorpio came out? What happened to that?

Another flip flop. [as an answer to the above belief about a 180]

I'm playing on Xbox One X and the game looks and plays incredibly well. I don't want to use hyperbole but it's definitely in the running for the best looking game I've personally ever played.

It's quite a gorgeous game and has me way more interested in the story than 4 did through the first 2 acts.

I've played a bit of the first Act and am loving the game so far. Really recaptures the enjoyment I had from the original trilogy.

It doesn't happen a lot that I play a new game and basically love it after a few hours.

At 60fps, with expansive open hubs and all those graphical settings, I believe Gears 5 is the most impressive game overall, this gen on consoles.

Where did MS promise a native 4k on all titles? Can you link this info or is this another one of your famous none Xbox gamer posts?

Also Gears 5 is 4k just scaleable @ 60 frames.. for the graphics its pushing running at a almost flawless 60 makes this title one of the best technically made game this gen.

If you would know better, the X can render 4k without a problem, difference here is The Coalition opted for 60 frames instead of a native 4k. If they chose 30 frames you can bet your ass it will be running native 4k. Its honestly not that hard to understand.

And who the f is Crowbcat? Not suprised that video was nitpicked.
