Not to jump in here, but this is absolutely a remaster, it is not a remake. Resident Evil 2 and Link's Awakening were remakes.  SotC ps4 was a remaster.

Finally, someone that gets it ^^

Well it isn't that hard of a concept. Remaster is taking a game and upgrading the visuals. A remake is rebuilding an existing game from the ground up. RE2 remake shares very little with the original, other than story and basic design.  It clearly was redeveloped with all new graphics, sound and voice acting.  Even some gameplay elements were changed .

Yeah, exactly.

I think people feel that a remaster has a negative connotation, and thus they don't like to use it with games they like. Remake  is perceived as something better, and this people tend to use it for games that don't deserve it to feel better about them.

It's very silly, but it happens a lot. And it's silly because being a remaster or a remake doesn't make a game better or worse. Just different...

I love remasters. I'm disappointed galaxy and Pikmin haven't been remastered.

No, it is a remaster.

Completely new graphic engine, new character models, new textures, not just higher resolution like remaster

He could dislike/hate it or whatever, it's fine. But he only needs to say that one time, no need for the second time or more, also, he keeps mentioning that this is remaster, which is wrong. That's why i keep asking him

Yeah, it's what happens when someone tells you his opinion and you keep quoting him about how much everyone else likes the thing. You're gonna get the exact same response.

"I don't care" "But it's so cool" I still don't care" "But it's a remake" I don't care" But it will have new story elements" I DON'T CARE" "B-B-B-But..."

Jesus, let it go.

Also, it's a remastering job. It's not being remade. Under those new textures and lightning, is probably the exact same code of the original Wii Release. Just like Ocarina of Time 3D, which despite being called a remake, the game's logic behaves exactly as the N64 version. Hence why some glitches of the original can be performed on the 3D version. Therefore, is not a remake.

Xenoblade Definitive Edition is the same game with better visuals and some adds and tweaks. A drammatic overhaul, but still not a remake. A remake makes the game again from scratch, which consequentialy makes it a new game, different from the original. And judging by what they have shown, it's 1:1 the same game. Maybe they'll add a new area or some new story element. But that doesn't make the Wii code of the other 99% of the game disappear.

So FFVIIR have turn base mode, then it is remaster too?

Final Fantasy VII Remake is made from scratch. With Xenoblade, you can take a moment from the game and put it side by side with the same moment of the Definitive Edition, and it matches perfectly. It has better graphics, but the way the game works (not in a gameplay sense, but in a pure technical level: how characters move, the geometry of the world, etc...) is exactly the same in both versions.

In FF VII Remake YOU CAN'T DO THAT. Because it's a new game. You can't match a scene that behaves exactly like the original BECAUSE THEY ARE DIFFERENT GAMES. THAT'S WHAT A REMAKE IS ABOUT. MAKING A GAME AGAIN. RESULTING IN A NEW ONE. XENOBLADE DOESN'T DO THAT. AT. ALL.

No idea what trailer others have watched, but the one I watched absolutely does not have all new graphics for the environment.

Some of you have your definitions crossed as remaster means improving visual and audio quality for most part, a remake goes deeper than that with assets being redone and such and not everything has to be redone as a remake is taking anything currently existing and modernizing it. REmake2 and LA are remakes yes but they're not the only standard of remakes as a remake doesn't have to be made from scratch, XBC is a REmake so far from what is seen as a lot more than improving the visual and audio quality is being done to it such as new character models, redone textures, new lighting, cut content being added in etc... That is simply not a remaster as some of you are trying to put it as even the geometry in some environments has been changed and it becomes more apparent in the comparison videos.

Edit:

Here we can see the environmental changes as graphically it differs significantly a bit.

The video screams remaster to me. Reminds me of TLoU on the ps4, same as the original, just prettier. Not a remake at all, at least in my book. Too each their own.

You may want to revisit TLOU.

This is not even comparable to the XBC situation sorry.
