Good morning, afternoon and Evening,

The trailer for Homeworld 3 has been released and basically confirms the game is on its way.. unfortunately there is no release date yet.

Homeworld 3 is published by Gearbox and is developed by BBI (Blackbird Interactive)

BBI's main headquarters is located in Vancouver Canada, they were founded by the original creators of the Homeworld series and went on to develop Homeworld Remastered Collection and Homeworld Deserts of Kharack. Unfortunately at the time when THQ went bankrupt, BBI and Gearbox went on a bidding war for the IP which was originally owned by THQ and BBI lost the bid however Gearbox allowed BBI to develop the future games anyway. Thank gawd for that since we would all rather the Homeworld games be made by the creators and not the guys who dished out Duke Nukem Forever and Alien Colony Marines.

Here is the trailer below, enjoy fellow Homeworld fans.

Happy to see it announced, but insanely sceptical about it being crowd funded on Fig, but published by Gearbox.

Announced platforms aren't even there and I'm well aware it's going to take a few years, but I'm not about to drop in some coin, only to have Gearbox decide that it's going EGS by then.

That's my biggest concern is it being a EGS exclusive. I don't mind it being on both EGS and Steam however Steam would be a no brainer since all the Homeworld games (Aside from Cataclysm due to the lost source code) are on Steam and I also don't believe Homeworld is using the Unreal 4 engine which would help the odds of not being exclusive to Epic. I hope so anyway.

Seeing karan S'jet in that trailer was very nostalgic, I cannot believe its been 16 years and counting to finally get a trailer.

Fingers crossed BBI do a fantastic job and are well looked after for the project.

Even less if you replayed the remaster recently. :P

I like the series.... but my dad LOVES it... I think he ll be happy to hear this news.

"What was your favorite 3D space Homeworld game?"

First game was a slightly better game than the 2nd one.

Saw the homeworld games on sale on steam. Never played but maybe pick up one. If new one only on EGS then I suppose I'll never play that. Rather be shot in the head than download epic game store.

I recommand buying the Homeworld Remastered Collection, its cheap on Steam and offers both the Original and Remastered versions on 1 and 2. Unfortantly Cataclysm is MIA.

On the one side, if it went EGS, they'd have some cash on hand, but on the other, look at what happened to Shem 3. Backers would riot and we'd see charge backs all around, further damaging crowdfunding even further.

Also, it'd be an RTS on a storefront that's not exactly popular for gamers outside of FN and a few indie titles, and we know that genre is already at it's lowest already, so going EGS exclusive could possibly kill the franchise in one swoop, and I know the both of us wouldn't want that, not after all these years we've been waiting for.

I've also been seeing plenty of word from fans around the net, fully expecting mod support, and EG don't exactly have full mod support implemented within their client yet, with those features being constantly pushed back, and even then we do not know what depth or kind of mod support would be allowed there.

personally, I'm hoping for Steamworks mod support, coupled with Nexus mods, since then we have two choices of modding to go for.
