Forums - General Discussion - [Update] Officially two years cancer free

Sounds good that not spreading. Not a fan of chemo because it kills good cells too but maybe they are better at microtargeting it now. I will say that I am making improvements on my life style. I am going on about day five no cigs and after drinking 2 beers tonight after work I will try to go least a month or more without any alcohol. Im still smoking weed but plan on stopping next week once I run out. Well enough about me.

Hopefully in a few months you can post that your body is rid of tumor/cancer and I can post that I'm still living healthy and look like Val Kilmer in Top Gun.

When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.

Least you live in Australia where I assume medical costs are far less than here in USA. So that is one positive outlook to focus on. You could be here in USA and go into massive debt over medical bills thus wanting to end your life. So yea always look on the bright side of life even though your country is burning to the ground. Good luck in the upcoming fire season!  Apparently it starts a few months early in Sept now.  That damn climate change...

I'm actually not doing chemo, that's not the recommended treatment for the cancer I have. Radiation therapy is different from chemo, you just lie in a big machine like an MRI for 20 minutes a day and they shoot a very fine x-ray beam into the tumor to kill it. Doesn't hurt, though I'm told as it goes on there will be side effects like fatigue. And yeah the technology has improved a lot over the years in terms of zeroing in on the bad cells while minimising damage to the healthy ones.

Haha yeah pretty much. XD I guess having some new info/footage/release dates would mosltly just be a nice positive distraction from all the scariness.

Oh I am deeply mindful and thankful of living where I do right now.

This whole process; GP visits, ultrasounds, MRIs, PET scan, biopsy, radiation therapy, etc has cost me a grand total of $0. Totally covered by medicare.

I feel so incredibly lucky.

Good luck man. I look forward to reading your posts years from now. Beat that thing and kick its ass :)

Are you getting the gamma knife?

Damn zero dollars. That would be like 20k USA medical bills least. Came down with appendicitis about 10 years ago. Was uninsured at time. Paid all other expenses like surgeon 1.2k, MRI 500, pathologist 200 anesthesiologist 500 out of pocket. The hospital wanted 20k for 1 night stay and pain drugs. All those other bills saved me paid for but for me to stay there a night with I assume pure opium shipped from Afghanistan cost 20k. Got hospital to eventually write it off as tax break for helping out poor but they racked up bill. USA medical system is designed to fuck people over. Money over health. Feel lucky you don't live in such shitty country that overcharges for bullshit. Hospitals here are like the mafia.

For 20k you'd think I'd least get a bj from a hot nurse.  All she did is stand me up to piss in bathroom because I couldn't pee in plastic container in bed.  She did give me ultrasound on bladder which I'm sure added to the 20k bill telling me I had to piss because had over liter in my bladder.  So there is that...
