Forums - Sports Discussion - The NFL Thread 2019: The Kansas City Chiefs Win Super Bowl LIV

Who do you believe will have a stronger defense in 2020?

Patriots 2 66.67%

Steelers 1 33.33%

Total:3

Given how horrid the Fins and Jets are, safe to assume the Pats have a ticket to the playoffs.

Are the Dolphins the worse team in NFL history? Sure looking like it.

I get 5 games per week and unfortunately one of them was that Jets game, they look like the worst team in the NFL, and yet there is also the Dolphins...

The Jets at least have a somewhat respectable defense. Nothing about the dolphins is respectable lol

Worst team in the league, the Giants are putting up some competition.

Week 2 Results

Fairly solid results this week. Couple of notable upsets (Colts over Titans, Bucs over Panthers) threw a wrench into most people's picks, but over 50% of the league had 10 correct picks or better. As is tradition, Rol screwed himself out of a win by switching his pick, this time from the Falcons to the Eagles. The seeming lack of parity this year in comparison to other years (man are there some BAD teams this season) provides a bunch of seeming gimmes. That might just be the season being young, though.

Couple new people joined in, couple hopped out, so I'm going to just provide standings for the people who have made picks in both weeks.

The most discouraging news by far, however, came from the survey results, which reveal that many of you are a bunch of thirsty thot chasers. Six people genuinely believe that the Black Eagles were the best Fire Emblem house. Six. I cannot express how disappointed I am that you would side with Edelthot. I'm going to excuse this for the time being as you all suffering the effects of CTE from smashing your head into a wall waiting for football season to start, but if this pattern continues I'll have to sicc Joe Zieja on you.

Couple of other notes

Given how lame some of these MNF games are, I'm changing the "score prediction" game for the extra PP from MNF every week to what I arbitrarily consider to be the best game of the week. This week it'll be Ravens @Chiefs.

Since, to my knowledge, no one has ever used it, I'm getting rid of the tie option in polls. If you wish to predict a tie for a game for whatever reason, just leave that game blank on a form with at least one game predicted and it will be counted as such. If you are absolutely nutty and want to predict 16 different ties, simply submit the sheet with "Tie" submitted in the "how many points" question.

Make your Week 3 Picks here.

Got my picks in for week three. Looks like Adam Vinatieri isn't retiring yet after all. As for the bonus question from last weeks picks that was a complete guess by me, since the only Fire Emblem game I played a lot and beat is Fire Emblem (2003) on GBA and I don't even remember if that game had houses.

Yeah I haven't played the recent Fire Emblem, so I picked based on Digimon World 2.

Although I typically went with Blue Falcons over the Gold Hawks or Black Swords, recently I have taken a liking to the Black Swords. Going Gold is just lame and meta, so the choice is between Blue or Black anyways. Blue Falcons is a drag until you get a decently high level so Black Swords is definitely the best for subsequent replays. Thus I pick Black Eagles.

I'm playing it extremely safe this week. I picked the difference in points in the Oakland game to be 17 last week. Pretty damn close as it was 18.

Although I picked Jaguars to lose because they play Titans @ Titans, my gut is telling me the Jaguars can get their first win. Did they officially bench/injured Newton? The Dolphins have given up 102 points in just 2 games. I never liked the Dolphins and I wish them the worst... but Jesus, have they no dignity at all? The Jets have no defense and lost to a Browns team that have a quarterback being crushed by the weight of his own expectations. So the 'Just End The Suffering' are no better than the Fins or the Bengals for that matter. Speaking of the Browns, this week will be the true tell if they are a legit team. I don't expect them to beat the Rams, but if they hold their own and compete, then we have ourselves an exciting Browns team this year. If Baker finally gets out of his funk, I expect this to be a fantastic shootout game. If anyone wants a potentially exciting game to watch this week. This is it.

I'm gonna go pick again for week 3 as I think I skipped a game choice and never went back to it

In case you see this in the next three hours or so, the JAX/TEN game is in JAX. My bad on the template. Don't know if it will alter your prediction or not but thought I'd make sure you're aware.
