I can get it for free and still won't be downloading it. I think they could have gotten more juice out of it, look at what was achieved with Zelda.

Uh. Sounds like you want them to change the art style. From a technical standpoint Witcher 3 is leagues ahead of BOTW.

Not the art style, I mean graphically that Zelda on the Switch looks better than Witcher 3 on the switch. Tecnically Witcher 3 is leagues above BOTW on other platforms, I'd disagree with the comparison on the switch though.

It is down to art style though, It's easier to make Zelda look better because it's art style is less technically demanding. It's a poor comparison to make when trying to determine if the Witcher 3 port could have been any better than it actually is. How good Zelda looks is irrelevant.

Predictions (Made July 2019)

LTD: PS4 - 130m, Switch - 110m, XBO - 52m       2019 : PS4 - 15m, Switch - 18.8m, XBO - 4.8m        2020: Switch - 22m (Peak Year)

It doesn't though, the only thing Zelda has over Witcher 3 on the Switch is the higher resolution.

Maybe there's something wrong with my eyes but to me, the game looks fantastic. Especially considering it's on the Switch.

For the Switch and the hardware it has, it looks truly fantastic.

However, compared to PC, it looks like a something you could get on there 10 years ago. And even PS4 and XBO look much better if set side-by-side.

Way too many compromises for me, makes no sense not playing it on another platform than PC. Runs and looks terrible, although play on the switch if you truly wish.

Completed the sentence for you.

And yeah, if you truly want to play that game without many compromises, you have to get the PC version. Even PS4 looks and runs like crap compared to the game on PC.

It doesn't have to be Zelda then, even Warframe looks much better on the switch than this, with far more things going on. I'm saying that it doesn't look like they tried very hard. There's no reason the cutscenes need to look so bad, the switch can definitely pull out better graphics than that.

It looks alot better than I thought it would on Switch but still leagues behind the PS4 or PC, yet having a game like the Witcher 3 on a portable is insane.

Not even a contest. I own Witcher 3 on Ps4 Pro and while i dont particularly like the game ( too clunky/no climbing mechanics) its blows BoTW away on a technical level (obviously). Actually playing the game though BoTW > Witcher 3

I don't think they could've done much more with a game having that big of an open world and that art style - very reason why I wrote in that thread after the port was reavealed about going with different art style as better solution (though more expensive), cause inevitably this are results of "simply" downporting it.

Yes, a port cannot be judged on what other games look like on the system. Is the Switch capable of better looking games than this Witcher 3 Port? Probably. Can Witcher 3 on Switch look better? Probably not.

Pointing to other games, that run on completely different engines, and saying they look better doesn't mean that this port could have looked better. It's a port, not a new game, they have to work with what they have.

In my opinion it looks just barely enough to still resemble the game on stronger consoles, it's so much better effort than this lazy FF XV pocket edition port and Cloud version of Assassin's Creed Odyssey.
