Interview reads more like it’s Microsoft who will be prioritizing frame rate over graphics, which makes more sense. They’ll nail it. Look at Scorpio. So much talk about how it would barely see native 4k games since the Pro was struggling to produce many at all and Scorpio ended up getting a ton of them.

BC is another interesting tidbit from that interview. Apparently they’re going to continue expanding the BC of older games on Scarlett? I was under the assumption they closed BC down. I guess that was just for this gen. And wow controllers are going to be BC? I guess I forgot about that. That’s amazing because the Xbone pad is my favorite ever, just ahead of DC.

The flagship games of MS would probably benefit more from 60fps than majority of 3rd party games so it makes sense for them to focus on it even if just at the start of the gen. And even if MS considers it very important it would be almost impossible to mandate 3rd parties to make all games 60fps.

I don't recall an abundance of naysayers to the X1X running native 4K games relative to the PS4 Pro (in fact, I remember quite the opposite ~ that it would do what the Pro couldn't). Besides, Sony didn't promise lots of native 4K games (unlike Microsoft), and yet, the Pro still has plenty of native 3840x2160 games. Moot points, really

I think both the ps5 and the scarlett will push fps more... the CPU in the current gen systems was the most limiting factor. With the new gen having pretty potent CPUs, the developers that want to push high fps wont have a CPU bottleneck, but I fully believe that it will be a developer decision, just as it always has been. I'm excited for what the new systems will bring to the table.

Just an old man, a family man, and a gamer. My family is more important to me then life itself.

Phil spencer gets it, Frame rate > Resolution > visuals.

I don't know which is funnier. To see a layman discussing spec, engines, limitations etc against Pemalite or CGI-Quality.
The guy develop assets and is part on game design but would know less about the difference on pixel count, framerate, etc than regular user of VGC.
I do love my 4k on 65" at 5ft from the TV, and I may discuss my impressions (which may be false perception) on the differences, but on technical discussion would be silly stuborness to disprove what is being said (with sources) by CGI.

Who is this layman you speak of? Would you like me to educate them? Also do you know what they do for a living and can you prove otherwise? This might help back up your claim on them.

Glad you like your 4k TV, so do I and I am looking forward to upgrading mine to a 9 series Samsung very soon as well as grabbing a top notch monitor, still deciding on brand choice for the monitor.

I mean, I was expecting an actual question, not a one hit K.O lol.

It is what it is though. You cannot be a couch gamer and expect to win a technical discussion vs a dev who's actually dabbling with tech and actually has used multiple screen types for years on end.

it's like an non artist trying to argue with an actual artist on proper colour correction.

Well CGI could work on different area and his knowledge on the graphical aspect be not much better than ours. Like being a programmer, level designer, etc. But from what he post on the dedicated threads he works on doing models, assets and other stuff that is very graphically intensive and advanced.

Just waiting for next gen to start rolling to see what he will post.
