I do not think the lite version will have a major impact on sales after it's first launch week. I will wait on buying one personally as I don't feel confident about the quality of the analog sticks. I have the OG and I have already replaced the Joycon two times so I will wait for a youtuber to open the console

Regardless, Sony is making so much profit on hardware sales at the moment and with the  psvr market and accessories hitting new strides, I just don't see why they would lower the price anytime soon.

It's not just a price cut though, if you wanted a slimline just portable from Nintendo this is it, I know of a few people who had issues with the Switches TV features and removable joycons instead of it being a solid handheld unit (I even offered to weld/Glue joycons onto a Switch for a mate...)

I definitely could see the Lite getting other people to buy the Switch who might love the games but not the system with the dock and such so I would imagine the weekly could go up by 10k on average if the lite didn't drop, that is after the initial launch week which I see as being a 1m week easily.

In Japan especially where gaming on the go rules the roost, the Lite's more portable nature and lower price point will be very appealing.

In the US, only a quarter of 3DS owners have upgraded to a Switch so far; no doubt a lot of portable gamers find the base model too bulky and expensive compared to what they're used to. The Lite fixes this.

It will also be a very tempting proposition to parents buying for their kids, as it's not only cheaper but has fewer small parts to break or lose.

On purpose no doubt, but it's still the consumer's job to inform themselves. Bet we'll see some of them complain that they got screwed.

I am quite interested to see what effect, if any, the arrival of the Mariko-powered regular Switch has on sales. On the one hand, it could cause a bump from people upgrading, but on the other, Nintendo hasn't really publicized it as a "new and improved" model, so it could be the vast majority of consumers aren't even aware of it and the pre-Lite slump will continue.

However the biggest thing is the +80% better battery life, and ~5% performance (faster ram),
and supposedly slightly more sturdy Joy-cons (to try fix drift issue).

I guess the slight perf. gain isnt worth a "new" title.... and they dont want to advertise they have a joy-con drift issue.
So it basically all boils down to the battery life, which again might not be enough to sell you on a "new improved switch".

So its just a silent revision...... I think sony did the same, with a few times this gen too.

Imo the "effect" of this new Mariko model will be slim to nothing (ei. sales will look as they always have).
The thing that will have a effect, is the handheld only Switch version, thats going for a smaller price point.

Also I think Nintendo are still selling these at decent profits, it might be possible for Switch Lite to hit 149$.
Thats when the handheld Switch sales blows up, at that price point, its a much easier sale to parents looking for a gift for a kid.

Yeah, it's not enough of a bump to be worth a "new" or "pro" label, hence why they're keeping it quiet. 

I think $200 is just right for the Lite for now; any less would risk devaluing the Switch as a whole. Save that $150 price point for later on in its life I reckon.
