Is this a true statement?  Here on VGC?  I find that hard to believe, to be honest.  The Switch was made successful on the back of BOTW and anyone suggesting otherwise is trolling, being sarcastic, or just arrived to VGC from a far off land where opinions are valued more than facts.

But seriously, do you have a link to the comment?

Wow...thanks for grabbing those.

That is beyond fanboyism and cherry picking.  Whether any title is available on any system, if it causes people to buy that system en masse it is by definition a killer app.  There is just no way that Zelda BOTW WiiU would have moved that many WiiU systems and therefore it wouldn't be in this list.  It's frustrating to discuss concepts with users who can't acknowledge the success of other systems and those consoles' reasons for being successful.  I do think BOTW on the WiiU may have had a chance to get near the top 3 of titles on the WiiU, but it would have been the worst decision in the company's history if they didn't release it day and date with the launch of the Switch.  Outside of BOTW we had Snipperclips.  The launch of the Switch was a dark time really, if you exclude BOTW.  So all of the success of every title post BOTW on Switch owes a debt to Zelda.  People would not have waited 8 months for Odyssey to come out before declaring the Switch DOA and another example of Nintendo's failed philosophy of market disruption.  And in the game of console sales, hype and product perception are king.

You should read the OP, Three houses sold over 300K first 6 days in USA.

Over 300K sold (if you count digital sales) like Zhuge assumed in his post.

Incredible numbers btw !

Your move Xenoblade Chronicles 3 !

I don't think 300K include digital, or am i missing something?

Well, I joined VGChartz in May of 2010, and was a lurker for about a year before that, so I have been here a little while.

I personally would disagree there aren't many "must-haves" on the Switch; obviously a "must-have" is a nebulous term as one person's must-have is another person's avoid-like-the-plague, but I'd say a case can be made for plenty of Switch games being must-haves.

True, and I completely respect your position. That's, why I put it n, quotes because I know talk like that is subjective. Even though its still an opinion.

Cheers. We may disagree about their being many must-haves, but I can definitely concur that BOTW is the best game on the system, to the point where if you're going to get a Switch, even in 2019, you may as well get BOTW. (Unless you're one of those folks like me who got the Wii U version haha)

I would say though that the number of must-haves looks set to climb significantly in the coming months though with the arrival of games like Luigi's Mansion 3, Pokemon Sword/Shield, DQ11, (In Japan at least) Animal Crossing, etc. Who knows, maybe even Astral Chain will manage to carve out a rep for itself a cult classic must-have.

I'm proud of all the consoles involved

That would be great for Nintendo and Platinum Games. It would kinda like being the Nier: Automata for the Switch, which is ironic since Taura, the director of Astral Chain, was the lead game designer of Nier: Automata.

Not really ironic considering cult classics are kind of what PlatinumGames are known for, Taura or not.

Also, the game would actually have to sell well, not just get good reception, to be similar to Automata (which has sold more than 4 million copies).

I think Astral Chain should at be least the best selling Nintendo/Platinum collab which admittedly isn't a high bar. But great reviews and on the system that is thriving with record breaking sales for Nintendo franchises should mean some decent sales.

If it reviews really well like Nier did I can see it being a hit, though it could also potentially fall into that classic pitfall of being a bit too unconventional to receive great acclaim and simply become a cult game along the lines of Madworld.

Wheres all the info? Like actual numbers? Have we lost the guy who gets the leaked numbers? Seems we have lost everyone atm.

There were no numbers last month either, the guy who posts them to resetera was banned apparently.
