I find it a little weird that Awakening sold better than Fates in the West. There's like a 600k sales gap between Awakening and Fates (in favor of Fates), and I would expect the U.S. to contribute to that at least a little bit. Instead, apparently Awakening sold better.

So Three Houses probably sold 1 million or slightly under that in 6 days? Does that include digital?

You should read the OP, Three houses sold over 300K first 6 days in USA.

Oh ok, I thought people were saying it sold almost as much as Awakening in the U.S. ... lifetime, in 6 days. Not just that the opening was better. But now I get it, since Fates is split into 3 Three Houses probably outsold every game except Fates and Awakening in 6 days, and even then it will probably beat those in the next week or two.

Edit: To clarify because I felt I worded this in a confusing way ... because I didn't know Fates was split into three, and because Fates has sold better than Awakening, I thought what was being implied was that Fates sold worse (but close to) Awakening in the U.S., and that Three Houses sold around 800k+ physical copies in 6 days in the U.S., since they said it was the 2nd best selling game in the series. Now I see that in actuality the physical sales are around 300k+, and that it's the 2nd best selling in 6 days physically because of game split. But also, it's probably the 2nd best selling or best selling by now, including digital.

Weren't people saying in another thread that BOTW wasn't a killer app for Switch??? LOL okay

Is this a true statement?  Here on VGC?  I find that hard to believe, to be honest.  The Switch was made successful on the back of BOTW and anyone suggesting otherwise is trolling, being sarcastic, or just arrived to VGC from a far off land where opinions are valued more than facts.

But seriously, do you have a link to the comment?

With the way Three Houses has fared so far, I can definitely see the game outselling Awakening and Fates (all three versions of the game). With the Switch maintaining great momentum, I can see Three Houses have decent legs, even for a SRPG. Its pretty cool seeing a SRPG gain such success, especially when high-profile SRPGs are not as prominent nowadays, especially compared to the likes of action RPGs.

It's an incredible journey for Fire Emblem as a franchise. After years of being a franchise stuck in Japan, it gained some interest thanks to Smash Bros. Melee, found some success in the West, hit a wall during the Wii/DS days, and finally found great fame in Awakening and Fates (regardless of how you feel about these games in general). And now Three Houses has brought FE to new heights as a successful (commercially and critically) home console SRPG title, the first since Mystery of the Emblem back on the Super Famicom in 1994.

The franchise has truly risen as a B-tier (if not, A-tier) franchise for Nintendo. With the successful mobile game, the TCG, Three Houses, etc., Fire Emblem seems to have a pretty solid future ahead of itself.

I could say something about this or why that is... but its gonna upset people so I wouldn't.

Great for Zelda regardless.

Nintendo fans only buy Nintendo games?

Or better yet, "well it's not like they have a lot of options, there's not much else to buy on Switch..."

Oh wait. https://www.gonintendo.com/stories/339625-switch-currently-has-over-2-400-games-available-to-download

It's usually the same tired arguments whenever a Nintendo game sells well. If i were to call out what the comment really is I'd likely be banned however

I don't think that stating that Breath of the Wild is one of the best games ever made is going to upset anyone.

I mean, there's gotta be a reason GTA V is also a mainstay on the charts for this long, too, right?

BoTW was a huge selling point for the Switch even though it also released on Wii U. It just so happens that BoTW continues to remain a selling point and its partly due to the fact that its an incredible game to play even after 2+ years. People are still experimenting and finding unique things to do in the game to this day. It goes to show how much people have grown attached to the game. When you have a game that manages to remain among the top sellers for multiple years, you know you have something pretty special.

That's not what I was going to say... but thanks to all of you for proving my point anyways. I got all that from saying nothing, imagine how it would have been if I even said what I was thinking lol.

What of if I said its one of a shortlist of great games that you can only play on a Nintendo platform and that people practically buy a switch for that game. That buying a switch without that game would almost be like buying a console without a controller.

Would saying that make me a troll? Or somehow downplaying the Switch? And why should me saying that matter anyways if the damn game is selling consoles? Isn't that what its designed to do?

I could swear this was the opposite. But what do I know?

If that was all you had to say, why make such a big deal out of it with the whole "if I said what I wanted to say people would get upset" deal?
I doubt anyone would take issue with you saying it's a great game that people buy the hardware for.

Given that you suggested that what you had to say would get people riled up, of course they're going to deduce from that that it would be something inflammatory.

Oh pls lets be honest here.

You sincerely believe that if i came and said...

well thats expected considering its pretty much the best game to play on the switch and there aren't that many "must-haves" (aka shortlist) of games on the switch right now my head wouldn't have been bitten off?

That wouldn't be considered downplaying/troling and what not? If you really believe that then you have not been on these forums long enough.

I have been attacked for "not saying" but indicating that I could "understand" why people were happy about PS4coming second for crying out loud.

edit: I bolded the part that would have caused the issue. Which I believe it's a legitimate point and is my opinion but people would have an issue with me saying that.

Yeah I agree. I think Three Houses will hit around 5 to 5+ million lifetime.

Well, I joined VGChartz in May of 2010, and was a lurker for about a year before that, so I have been here a little while.

I personally would disagree there aren't many "must-haves" on the Switch; obviously a "must-have" is a nebulous term as one person's must-have is another person's avoid-like-the-plague, but I'd say a case can be made for plenty of Switch games being must-haves.

True, and I completely respect your position. That's, why I put it n, quotes because I know talk like that is subjective. Even though its still an opinion.
