Forums - Politics Discussion - Are we all becoming pagan again?

Monogamy isn't necessarily tied to religion. People just like commitment and don't like to be just one of many to someone. At least when we are talking about relationships. Fuckbuddies and FWBs are just about sex, and random sex will always have its place as well. The latter I think has become more free and more acceptable when religious control has subsided. But nothing new under the sun really.

In Roman times, there were whole sex parties involving only women, and it wasn't regarded as weird. They also had hetero orgies obviously. Marriage was a temporary thing for the raising of children, that's it.

Then Rome fell.

The End

Nothing lasts forever! Also ironic how it fell after Christianity got invented and then got it's claws stuck in...

Instead of seeking to convince others, we can be open to changing our own minds, and seek out information that contradicts our own steadfast point of view. Maybe it’ll turn out that those who disagree with you actually have a solid grasp of the facts. There’s a slight possibility that, after all, you’re the one who’s wrong.

Sure. It's based upon the same foundations that Judaism+Torah are derived from... And what Islam+Quran is later spun off from... It's not even the oldest of the middle-eastern religions, Judaism is.

Those religions have existed for only 6,000~ years roughly, human history predates that, the aboriginal people of Australia have evidence of existence of 50,000+ years, thus it would have been probable for it to be "invented" at some point for the middle-eastern people and later spread throughout the world later on.
Hence why if you were to make a map of Christianities history of nations that adopted the religion, you will see that on a time-line scale, it spread from a single point before traversing the entire globe... It didn't just simply exist world-wide in an empty vacuum on day 1.

And if we were to talk on larger time scales, Christianity is like a non-existent blip compared to the billions of years since the big-bang event.

It has existed since God created the universe, we humans merely picked it up around that time

Look at Solomon and his many wives.  That's why the physical (<=== keyword) nation of Israel fell.  Go figure.

You of course have zero empirical evidence for such a claim... And as such, said claim can be discarded with equally as much evidence.

Ugh, I think I'm going to just duck out now. This is getting ugly fast. All I'll say is that we should all be able to live the lifestyle we want to live, and be able to all live alongside one another regardless of religion. The reason we don't has nothing to do with the actual practicers of non-monogamy, or even the religions themselves, but rather the people practicing them not leaving other people alone to do what they want with their private lives.
