I legit want to know why people say PS3, and then list issues that were remedied during the lifespan of the console, yet the PS4, has issues, with games being sub 1080p for 2 generations in a row, and a Pro model is release and still doesn't fix the issue.

It mainly has to do with the Jaguar CPU holding it back. Unfortunately they had to use the same CPU in the PS4 Pro, same goes for the Xbox One and X. It is literally bottlenecking the GPU in both the Pro and X models. These people believe a GPU is the be all end all for graphs and performance. It doesn't matter how good your GPU is if your CPU is crap.

Yeah, I know.  They were cheap, and it shows.  That's exactly what I mean.  Prices can drop, (and they did) and games can be released (and they were).  There is no fixing the games that can't hit 1080p, without removing something from the game itself.

Thank goodness for Ryzen, or the PS5 wouldn't hit 1080p either, given the track record.

Nintendo: WiiU. Just a culmination of increasingly worse consoles starting from the N64. I know it will ruffle feathers that I think since N64 Nintendo hadn't done a quality console, but that's just my opinion. The Switch reverses trend that entirely. I just wish there were a TV only version for $199.

Sony: PS3. I still love the crap out of every Playstation, mainly because it they always have crap tons of RPGs, but it is my least favorite.

Microsoft: XBONE. I don't even know why I still own the thing. The only game I have is the Master Chief collection. It literally does nothing I would want it to do.

NES - Never played one. (if it has to one I've played, then the Wii U because it lost support before I had time to do more with it.)
PS4 - I tried it once. Didn't like the controller.
Xbox One - It led to all my friends that were xbox gamers to move to pc and almost exclusivly playing online. Co-op with them would have stayed dead if one of them hadn't bought their first Nintendo home console, the Switch. Also fuck Halo 4.

How is ending up with the least amount of owners out of the three "winning in terms of popularity"?

The 360 (at least here in the US) was by far the most popular console last gen. It's not even debatable. I should have just said US, versus making a general statement to mean all. It doesn't matter that it sold the least. It was still close to PS3 as far as sales go. However, more gamers here in the US preferred 360 over the rest. It had better online connection, it also had was the preferred console for fighting game tourneys like EVO, CEO, etc. The 360 was also featured in a lot of tv shows and movies. More than the others. That's what I mean by popularity.

In the US sure, but there's a whole wide world outside the United States. The majority of the world's population and the console market is outside the US.

I have had zero issues with any games not being 1080p.  Are you talking about consistent frame rates instead?  To me PS4 is shaping up to be on level of PS2 in terms of best of all Playstations.

Wii - poor graphics
PS3 - first years was bad (high price, online, DualShock 2, exclusives)
Xbox One - weaker than ps4, few good exclusives games

Nintendo:

Nintendo 64. Huge game droughts, overly dependent on an overrated developer to fill in holes between Nintendo of Japan releases, only three RPGs worth mentioning, shitty fighting games, multiple cancelled games that the system desperately needed, and the fact that Nintendo PR was constantly in damage control mode with sayings like "quality over quantity" and "RPGs are for depressed players who like to sit alone in dark rooms." If it weren't for Super Mario 64 and the two Zeldas, I would have no interest in revisiting the N64... and I liked Twilight Princess and Wind Waker a lot better than I did Ocarina of Time or Majora's Mask.

Sony: PS3. Had a lot of great games, to be sure, but was definitely weaker overall than the other three Sony consoles. But I thought the 7th generation as a whole was worse than 6th gen or 8th gen.

Microsoft: Xbox One. Between the PS4 and Switch, my gaming needs are met, and the X1 has little to offer me. But to be honest, I didn't care about either the X1 or the OG Xbox. The 360 was the only Xbox that I was really interested in, and that was just until PS3 started getting good.

Your question makes it sound as, since you don't notice the games are sub 1080p on PS4, then they must be 1080p.  They're not.  A lot of the games are not 1080p. And the framerates are bad and are 30 fps and below too.  I provided a small, list of games which are not 1080p on a base PS4.  PS3 doesn't charge you extra to play games online, while you are on PS4.  It's nonsensical.  Spider-Man felt so much like the Batman games, I couldn't enjoy it for much longer than 30 minutes.  A lot of the games, just feel like the same thing, with the setting and characters swapped out.  It's not even fun.  I can go on and on, about how much of a disappointment the PS4 has been.  My PS4 is about as useless as my PS1. And my Pro has been sitting in the box for 2 months.

Although I own them both on PC, for free, I hated Call of Duty: Black ops 4, and Destiny 2, and same goes to just about every other first person shooter.  Overwatch is my most played game this generation, by far, but again, it's on PC.  I can't do shooters on a controller, that just not happening.  But, overall, I don't like FPS games, they all feel the same.  Just like mostly everything else.

I bring up shooters, because Bioshock Infinite is the first and only FPS game I owned on PS3.  Loved it.  I own it on PC now and haven't touched it, but I'm so glad I avoided the CoD phase people were going through a while back.  I personally own about 270 games or so on my PS3.  About 60 of them are disc based retail games with the others being PS1, PS2, or Minis, and if not one of those, download-only games from the store.

My collection is vast, and games felt different. Catherine, Beyond: Two Souls, Last of Us, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Fight Night: Champion, Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.  All games I enjoyed and spent time with, and they were all different.

Tekken 7 has button lag on PS4, and is sub-1080p, however is 1080p on the pro.  But, there's still massive button lag.

Beyond: Two Souls.  on PS3 first.  Literally the exact same game.

Last of Us.  Again, same game, and what made it worse, it was a pack-in with my original PS4 model.

Spider-Man.  Feels just like Batman Arkham Knight.  I like Marvel way more than DC, but if I'm playing a game like that, I'm going back to Batman.

Tomb Raider.  Same exact game from last gen.

The two stand out games that I liked on PS4 was Detroit: Become Human, and God of War.  Everything else was a game I wouldn't miss if I didn't own a PS4, or a game inferior to the PC version.

Sir I said the US. Quite a few times in my last statement. That was my point about popularity. Even when Koreans and Japanese played their fighting games...it was on the 360. The marketshare in the US is just as large as Japan. It's what helped the 360 beat the PS3 for many years. I'm not trying to a stand for the 360. I'm just pointing out that in one of the 3 largest gaming marketshares...the 360 was top dog. I'm well aware of the world's population being larger outside of the US. No need to take a silent jab at me there.

Sub 1080p?! The machine runs most games at 1080. Sure the Pro is a little bit better, but hardly anything significant. Not that big of jump like the Xbox One to the One X. The regular PS4 seems to handle games just fine in my opinion. I don't really hear complaints from gamers about hardware performance when it comes to the PS4. My "it's really no different than Xbox One and Switch" stance was in response to how you made all of the hardware gripes about PS4 when for the longest time was the strongest console in the world. I was just surprised you didn't make the same claims towards the other 2.

Trust me when I say I love the Switch. It's a phenomenal console that's creative, innovative, and just downright enjoyable. If I had to say anything negative about the Switch, it would have been that joy-con drift issue. Which is being taken care of. So I don't have anything against Switch. Again, I was just wondering why you chose the strongest hardware (at the time)out of the 3 for hardware limitations and didn't list it for the other 2. It was just baffling for me. Your preference is your preference. I'll never argue why you like a console better than another. That's not why I replied to you.

I do agree with you about the pricing of the PS3. I don't see it as a negative because they had other models down the line that had a much less considerable price. However, I understand that there are few who have been turned off completely by that price and decided not to touch the PS3 at all. So maybe some of those same folks are here. Same situation with the Xbox One. Pricing and forced Kinect bundling. Although there are other models with a much reduced price and no Kinect...some gamers just got turned off from that.

Anyway, please don't take my reply to you as to questioning your preference. I was just curious about the hardware view for one, but not all of them. Also I was wondering about the remaster thing when the other 2 consoles have just as many. That's the whole gist of "no different than Xbox One and Switch" bit. Hope that clears it up.

I have no idea why you're defending a lie.  The PS4, like the Xbox One, does sub-1080p gaming, and dropping frames.  Just because you dont notice it, doesn't mean it's not happening.  I have both a PS4, and a PS4 Pro, and I also have a PC.  I have games across all three.  I notice pretty easily when there's frame dropping.

And here's a list of PS4 games that are sub-1080.  Most are actually 900p, and all it took was a quick google search.  Thanks, IGN.

Ark: Survival Evolved = 680p/Detailed Graphics runs at 1280x720p (TAA)
Assassin's Creed: Syndicate = 1600x900p (FXAA)
Assassin's Creed: Unity = 1600x900p (FXAA)
Battlefield 1 = Conquest ran between 1100x620p and 1807x1014, campaign runs between 1422x795 and 1807x1016; DICE did note that they adjusted the resolution scaler, so the lowest pixel count could be a lot higher, but I have yet to look (TAA)
Battlefield 4 = 1600x900p (FXAA)
Battlefield: Hardline = 1600x900p (FXAA)
Batman: Return to Arkham = 1344x1080p up to 1920x1080p (FXAA)
Batman: The Telltale Series = 1600x900p in a 2.40:1 aspect ratio (no AA)
Call of Duty: Black Ops III = 1360x1080p up to 1920x1080p/split screen runs between 1080x1080p up to 1536x1080p (Filmic SMAA T2x)
Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare = 960x1080p up to 1920x1080p (Filmic SMAA T2x, appears to be a temporal technique used that improves the resolution over time for parts of the frame that are similar to previous frames)
EA Sports MMA = 1600x900p (4x MSAA)
Final Fantasy XV = 1600x900p up to 1920x1080p (TAA)
Lichdom: Battlemage = 1600x900p (Post-AA)
Paragon = 1600x900p (TAA)
Nier: Automata = 1600x900p (no AA)
Nioh = 1280x720, occasional spikes up to 1600x900p and 1728x972p (no AA)
Shadow of the Beast = 1600x900p (post-AA? Not sure as I don't plan on getting it.)
Star Wars: Battlefront = 1600x900p (FXAA)
Uncharted 4 multiplayer = 1600x900p (TAA)
Wash_Dawgs = 1600x900p (SMAA T2x)
The Witness = 1600x900p (2x MSAA)
Titanfall 2 = 1280x720p

About the PS3s costs.  What really costs more?  Do you know how many people I knew that went out and paid for multiple xbox 360s with their own money?...  It was foolish.  I had 1 PS3 from 2009, until like 4 months ago.  No, it didn't break.  I still have it.  I bought a SECOND one for the backwards compatibility, since my original didn't have PS2 backwards compatibility.

And, about the Switch, it's meant to be portable.  How can you knock it for power when having more power would mean it wouldn't have been a portable console.  You're getting something out of it.  With the PS4, it's just... weak, and a one-trick-pony on top of it all.  It can't play PS1 games, for some odd reason.  Every version of playstation except PS4s can play PS1 games.  PS3 games are understandable, but it's just odd that the PS4 can't do much of anything else.  The PS3 has more features that the PS4, but PS4 has better graphics.

Again...the machine runs MOST games at 1080p. Sir that's not a lie. I didn't say every game. Most games. So you making a list of games it doesn't was a wasted effort because I've already acknowledged that the PS4 doesn't run every single game at 1080p.

Now you're debating semantics about the Switch. I told you I don't have a problem with the Switch at all. I love it! However, the Switch is a console as well. Not just a handheld. So no it's still counted as a console like the PS4 and Xbox One. Let's not go trying to save it from criticism from a criteria (hardware power) you yourself have criticized the PS4 for. You said the PS4 is weak hardware wise. I said that the same criticisms should also go to the Xbox One and Switch. That's fair. You chose the strongest hardware of the 3 and said it was weak, but didn't extend that to the other 2. Now whatever you personally feel about the PS4 is your business. I'm talking about your claims about it being a PS3.5 and a one-trick-pony and all that jazz. I'm focusing more about the hardware claim against the other 2. The Switch doesn't get left out of the power discussion if you say the PS4 is weak. That's only fair. It would be the same as you saying the PS3 is weak and only puts out sub 720, but you don't say the same for the Wii. Having features doesn't have nothing to do with how strong the hardware is. Otherwise the PS4 would mirror the Xbox One fully.
