Forums - Gaming Discussion - I recently bought the PS4. My first Sony console.

First of all, those who know me (?) Know that all my life I have been a Nintendo fan (and I will continue to be, of course). Recently I bought the PS4, I had always wanted to try some of its exclusive games (Kindgdom Hearts 1 and 2, God of War 4, Spiderman, Nier automata (Yes, it is also on Xbox but not on Switch, which is my other console), The Last of Us, etc). I will not have much time to play with the PS4 in 1 or 2 months (Hello study, work, Fire Emblem Three Houses and Astral Chain) but I also decided to buy it now so that my brother played Fornite there instead of the Switch (And protect it a little!).

I have to say that having the PS4 has changed my perspective on several things, especially in games that I was going to buy on Switch, I will buy them now on PS4 (mainly for price). Continuing with this, entering the PlayStation Store is amazing, the amount of AAA games at too low prices invites you to buy (Nintendo could learn a bit of this) even if you know you don't have time to play those games at that time. The only thing is that sometimes the store takes a while to load (I don't know if it's just my thing or my internet but then I see my brother playing Apex legends fluently and I wonder what the problem is) and when you enter Looking at the info of a game can be confusing (in that sense I prefer the Nintendo eshop).

I currently have KH 1.5 + 2.5 and Last Of Us Remastered, Overwatch (All Physical), God of War 4 is on the way (I live in Colombia but I bought it on Amazon USA because it is very cheap) and Guilty Gear XrD Rev 2 (One of my most desired games) and SF V Arcade Edition (these last two digital). With the purchase of the SF V, they gave me a theme of Chun Li that is beautiful (Nintendo could also learn a bit of this). Oh and I also downloaded the PSplus games (That Detroit Become Human is a great gift, it also includes Heavy Rain and an art book) and on the Switch I had Horizon Chase Turbo on my wish list, so that saved me . I answer questions. Greetings

- Very happy to see Nier Automata (which became my favorite game ever) being one of the reasons for your purchase, it will NOT let you down.

- Yes the store is sometimes rather slow its one of my few complaints.

- Que bueno saber que no soy el unico Colombiano en esta pagina, yo tambien compro todos mis juegos (o al menos la mayoria) por Amazon o PSN, un saludo desde Cali.

- Guilty Gear is f#cking fantastic by far my favorite fighting game, everything from the visuals, soundtrack, characters is a 10/10, i was so incredibly excited for Xrd when it was announced, it really took the cel shaded graphics to a WHOLE new level (in my opinion the best of its kind), i also bought Rev2 because i love Baiken, also have you seen the new Guilty Gear game that got announced some days ago? they took the visuals even further beyond its honestly incredible how good it looks.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it. It has plenty of great games to offer

Spiderman is such a great game, favorite Sony exclusive of the gen

I'm kinda jealous. I bought SFV and Detroit digitally full price on day one. I didn't get any of that cool stuff! I think I got a soundtrack for Detroit, though. Have a blast man. It's what gaming is all about.

Grats on the purchase. Since you are used to a more modest-powered console (unless you play on PC, too), I would recommend some games that show off the hardware. Horizon and God of War are probably my top two choices. You could always play through the Uncharted series, keeping in mind that until you get to Uncharted 4, you'll be playing games that were originally on the PS3. There's so many great games that you're in for an amazing time. If you have a Pro and a 4K TV with HDR you can squeeze even nicer visuals out of your games.

The nice thing about PS4 is that you can play a lot of the games from PS1-PS3 as well, often as remakes or remasters.  I actually like PS1 - PS3 games a lot more than the newer PS4 ones, but if you've never played any Playstation, then there is a huge mountain of fun games out there.  Here are some "PS4"  games I really like (many of which are from previous generations):

Final Fantasy 7 - 12.  (including X-2)
Uncharted 1 - 4 (1-3 are in a collection)
Shadow of the Colossus & Ico
Every Dark Souls game
Dragon Quest 8 & 11 (haven't played 11 yet, but 8 is awesome)
Dragon Quest Builders
Minecraft
Undertale

Probably a lot more I could name, but at this point I'd have to look which ones are on PSN to be sure.  There are tons of great indie games out there too though, a lot of them from previous generations.  There is really a huge mountain of great games out there if you've never had a Playstation before.  I am saying this as someone who is hugely dissatisfied with the PS4.  For me, I see a bunch of games I've played before (or something similar).  But for someone who has never had any Playstation before there is many years of enjoyment there.

Que bueno que la pudiste probar :)

Just like a few mentioned above try the following:

- Gow III remastered
- Gow
- Spider-Man
- horizon zero dawn complete edition
- Nioh
- Bloodborne
- Until Dawn
- Re 2 remake
- Re VII
- Red Dead Redemption 2
And many more

Also, you have a great selection of fighting games on the system: SFV arcade edition, tekken 7, soul calibur VI, mortal kombat XL, king of fighters XIV, guilty gear and many more.

Hope you enjoy it :)

REmake 2 is great from what I've seen/heard. I have it and will play it soon. You should be able to find it on a discount during a PSN sales here and there.
And yeah, there are a lot of great deals there. I got Guilty Gear Xrd Rev for $9 for example.
Nier: Automata I'd highly recommend. It was such a unique experience, and you can't tell why from looking at trailers. Just make sure to get all the main endings. It's imperative for this game more than any other I've played. (The joke endings are not important though.)

Yeah the PSN store can some times take time to load up for me as well. Not sure why, but usually it runs smoothly.

I am almost certain that the RE2 Remake will be around 20 dollars during Black Friday and I will buy it there. Nier Automata would definitely be in the top 3 games that I most want to play on PS4.  After playing Bayonetta 1 and 2, I became a big fan of PlatinumGames.

FYI the new ps plus games are up now aswell, so you can also get Wipeout and Sniper Elite 4 :)

Thanks! I want to try them!

Cool, you are up to a whole new bunch of great stuff now.
PS4 games will only become cheaper for a good time and most are already very well discounted, so you'll have the chance to pick up a lot of games to play without becoming poor xD

You seem to like RPGs (at least action RPGs) so I would recommend you try some of the Soulsborne games, be it Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro or even Nioh (not from From Software), you may be getting a new love there, seriously, it can simply grow on you absurdly.
Horizon Zero Dawn is also a great game, don't miss it if you can.
If you are into turn based ones you should definitely get Persona 5 too, seriously, it's a must.
Out of the RPGs you should try Uncharted 4, (you can even play 1 to 3 on the PS4 before it too), it's a shorter game but it's remarkably good.
You can try Metal Gear Solid V, The Last Guardian, Gravity Rush, and a lot of other games too.
No need to rush, keep your pace, and enjoy yourself.

Bloodborne is definitely on my list and later I could also try the Dark Souls. Persona 5 was one of the reasons to buy the console. The game seems to be cool and I have heard that the soundtrack is amazing.

PS4 is old tech.

But has great games :)

OP:  What BraLoD said.... give Persona 5 a shot, since your into RPGs.

Sure, Persona 5 was one of the reasons to buy the console!

It's definitely not just a problem on your side. The PS Store is sluggish, unstable and needs improvement on PS5.

As for games, I'm currently having fun with Plants vs Zombies: Garden Warfare 2.

I'll take a look. I've heard something about that game but I've never paid much attention.

Yakuza 0, Yakuza kiwami 1 and 2 are great games. Horizon zero dawn and rachet and clank are also cheap right now on psn.

The Yakuza saga has always caught my attention, I will definitely try them at some point.

Yes, soon they all join the dark side. Just as I did in the PS vs N64 battle. Was a big Nintendo fan before that.

For me, the only limitation has always been time and money. If it wasn't for that detail, I'd have all the consoles.

Have fun with your new console.

IMO: the greatest console of all time!

It has very good games, that's for sure!

Nice! I am still getting most games on Switch because I make big use of the portability factor, but if you have the time to spare at home the PS4 has some good deals. Congrats on your purchase.

Thank you. I had planned to buy Doom on Switch, but seeing it at 8 dollars in the PS Store it is difficult to say no to that.

Surprised it is your first, I to was a Nintendo fan growing up since the nes, but never locked myself to one company.

I grew up with Nes and Snes. Then at a friend's house I had the opportunity to play with PS1 and I definitely wanted to have that console but I didn't have the money. In the case of Nintendo, money was also an impediment to having the N64, Gamecube, Wii. A couple of years ago I had the opportunity to buy the Wii U and the 3DS and I had the opportunity to play the Zelda games that I had lost. I still regret missing the Metroid Prime saga, I wish the trilogy will come out on Switch!

Just as you dont have to choose between DC and Marvel, you dont have to choose between Nintendo and Sony. Never lock yourself to one company, you miss out on a lot.

Clear. At the time I would have wanted to have PS1, but money was an impediment.

The PSN is a slog to load.... but the prices are good, I buy physical for all games I care about, on PSN I buy when they are dirt cheap and I don't care much.

Now welcome to playstation and enjoy your stay.

Thanks!

Nice, nice! Add these games. Yakuza 0, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2, Fist of the North Star Lost Paradise, Gravity Rush 1 remastered, Gravity Rush 2 & Spider-Man

Oof i'll stop here!

The Gravity Rush will be there sometime. Spiderman is a no brainer.

I suggest you try Horizon:Zero Dawn.

Definitely

Resident evil 2 is great, I just finished beating it with both Claire and Leon. If you like Resident Evil type games the Evil Within series is a lot of fun. Nintendo like games Ratchet and Clank is awesome, Hat in Time plays like a Nintendo made game. Uncharted series, Horizon Zero Dawn, and Persona 5 are some of my favorites. If you never played Bioshock games, the trilogy is an excellent value. Its a shame that 3d Dot Game heroes hasn't come to the Playstation Now service I would recommend signing up for Now just for that game if it was.

Bioshock I'll have it at some point, no doubt.

Yeah, that announcement a few days ago was amazing. Guilty Gear is a visual and playable pleasure. I will have one year to get the most out of this version before the next one arrives.

Thanks! I have a 50-inch Samsung 4k but the PS4 Slim. At some point I thought about buying the Pro, but I preferred to spend that difference on games

Thanks! Recently I was playing the demo of DQ Builders 2 on Switch and I loved it. There are some FF that I will play without a doubt. And Shadow of the Colossus is also on my list.
