Sony just announced ps4 shipped 100mill units!

Games and Network Services, Operating Profit of $680 Million, down from $769 Million last year.

Operating Profit forecast for full FY remains unchanged, $2.58 Billion compared to $2.86 Billion last year.

- Decrease in first party software sales compared to quarter last year (no god of war lol)
- Lower than expected third party software sales
- Negative impact of exchange rates
- Increase in PS4 Hardware sales and profit margin
- Increase in network services sales (PS+, etc)
- Lower than expected PS4 Hardware Sales

The reason they give for the Operating Profit forecast not being reduced despite lower than expected third party software and ps4 hardware sales is that cost reductions (presumably for PS4 hardware) are better than expected and the sales of PS+ and other network services are higher than expected.

Well done to Sony. Huge milestone only the greatest consoles (in popularity at least) achieve.

Hahah yes,the ps4 will be the second best selling game home console of all time something i preticted years ago.

Also damm still @300bucks and selling like hot cakes 6years later no system has ever done that.

From what i recall E3 was pretty lame this year.

Gratz to PS4. As of today Sony have 3 home consoles at 100 million. PS4 selling 15 million units at $299 is bonkers i cant see it, but it seems like Sony just want to flex a bit before the gen is over when what they need to do is cut the damn price.

Wow....3'2M shipped this quarter and better software sales than last year. I remember saying at the beginning of the year that i expected a great Feb-May performance due to software lineup. VGC numbers seemed to prove me wrong until now but in the end it's what it happened.

But the biggest milestone and the one that is going to be difficult to surpass by any other console is the "Fastest console to reach 100M shipped". Faster than Wii and PS2....., without any official and definitve price cuts in recent years.....That's super impressive. This proves too that US and JP are less and less relevant for Sony as times goes on. Playstation brand has to be muuuuuuuuuch more powerful than the competition eveywhere else.

And there's still people doubting Sony and the future of the Playstation brand.......

100M, and the chartz are 2 weeks back... so about 2.5M in stock or in transit. Sounds plausible to me, maybe a bit high.

And Switch seems to have done 2'1M shipped this quarter and it's 36'87M shipped lifetime in total....It has to be overtracked here, right?
