At least this gen I do think XBL wouldn't come to PS. But with Sony working with MS to improve their streaming service it is possible that XB and PS streaming services show on both platforms then XBL on PS could happen (if MS also allow PSN on Xbox probably).

They aren't exactly open to sharing exclusives with PC. Most of the exclusives also on PC Sony haven't paid anything to have the exclusive. And the very few they may have paid probably costed less when having on PC as well. And they aren't the flagship games of Playstation, so kinda moot.

Every exclusive you can check the bump week over week on the 2 or 3 weeks after a game release, this have been bread and butter of VGC during gen 7. BC itself we haven't seem any significative bump, this is the reason I'm telling you it's neglible. And during the first six months or so of the BC on Xb1 we did get figures on how much BC was used, and was like 15-30min per user on like a full year or something like that.

If Sony is open to having XBL on Playstation, I genuinely believe MS would increase support. I just dont think it would be major titles for competitive reasons.

The point is Sony is open to sharing with PC because its not a direct competitor like Xbox. I agree they save money by sharing with PC but its not relevant.

BC was a feature that was constantly getting better for years. So its benefit to sales could have been spread out. Again, cant quantify it.

True BC stay the same all along the gen and even like that it doesn't influence sales. In general people simple don't care much about older stuff. But don't seem you'll change your opinion since you can hold a "we can't measure because it is spread through the life of the console" and other ways to say that BC matters even if no one can prove.

Well I wouldn't expect MS to put the latest Halo on any other HW (wasn't it one of the few games they kept away from PC when they made the play anywhere?).

The point is that you probably wouldn't find half a dozen that can be prove that Sony paid to keep away from X1. From what I remember only Street Fighter had it. There is many accusations of Sony moneyhatting a lot of games this gen (like MHW) but almost none have any credible evidence, the ones that have we were aware from the get go. You can be sure that most of the games that are exclusive to PS4 and PC had 0 money paid by Sony.

You understand my stance on BC. It sucked when it started, but many highly requested games were added over time. I feel BC helped move hardware, XBL Gold subscriptions and Gamepass subscriptions. I'm not even arguing it was a massive boost, I'm just saying it helped.

The Play Anywhere thing started after Halo 5. Halo:MCC is coming, Halo Infinite will be there at launch, so Halo 5 is inevitable.

I'm not talking about moneyhatting. Just pointing out they share games with PC because they don't see it as a direct competitor.

Would be nice, if some older Xbox classics (which don't move hardware anymore) get ported to Switch for a good handheld experience.

Halo MCC (or at least Halo 1 + 2 Anniversary Editions and Halo 3) and Fable 1 + 2 would be good candidates.

You can already play Halo 1 + 2 on a GPD Win handheld, but only the old versions:

With the Halo MCC announcement for Steam (and not only the Windows Marketplace), they lose exclusivity for Xbox anyways, so an additional platform with a different focus (mobility) wouldn't hurt much.

On the other hand, there are already great Nintendo games playable on non-Nintendo hardware:

So a port of Super Mario Galaxy or Twilight Princess to Xbox (after or simultaneously with a Switch port) ain't impossible either.

If Sony didn't pay anything for the game how would it be an exclusive or prevent it from apearing on PC or anywhere else?

Not everything Sony funds is necessarily a money hat, some are.

Regardless, Sony funded projects have ended up on PC because Sony just doesn't see PC as a direct threat. You could argue it was to save money or generate revenue. Either way, Sony opted not to prevent that because Sony views PC differently.
