The battles are great. But the exploring it tedious and boring. Too much talking. 8/10 so far, I'm 20 hours in.

You know you can skip all of that if you want to. You dont have to talk to everyone in the school. You can just do the quests/activities, or talk to the people in your class or the students you want to recruit.

The game give you sooo many options to enjoy the game.

Yeah, absolutely.  I realised the explore doesn't have that heavy of an implication and I have started doing mostly battles + resting.  The game is very good, but just not excellent, IMHO.  The talking can just be overboard, even the story elements before and after missions.  I would prefer to see less story.

Edit

I will also agree the game isn't 80 hours, though it can be.  I suspect I will finish the game out in around 30 hours.  I'm not shocked somebody has already beaten the game.  I probably will by the end of the month.  A 7/10 isn't off base from where I personally stand.

Okay I restarted on hard difficulty. OMG it's brutal! Two enemies can easily kill most of your characters, and your mages will get one-shot if you are not careful! I spent over an hour last night just trying to beat the first bandit group without losing a student!

lol good thing I saw this I started on Normal classic and was thinking it's easy for the most part I still almost got some of my united killed due to carelessness.  I imagine I will do my second playthrough on hard hopefully my strategizing improves

I just finished Chapter 9 at 20 hours. But I spent a lot of time upfront executing all the exploration and dialogues. I plan on dialling that back significantly. It just (IMHO) distracts from the game. Skipping those does effect the game, but I simply cannot spend so much time on what I consider tedious and boring.

I am sure I am missing a lot, I just can't get into that level of character development, especially the lost items.

I love the paralogue battles, almost as much as the main story. I have been hitting those pretty hard. The game is still very good, and frankly I find it well designed, to your point it allows for customised play.

Edit:

I am guessing my style of play probably mandates normal mode, it probably would not be effective on hard, which is fine.

Uhmm, the game isn't that long... That 80 hour per house was pretty exaggerated. My first clear was 36 hours and that was me trying to look at guides and trying to save everyone. Second and third one went a lot faster since I didn't have to go through the unnecessary stuff like looking at their bonding events or roaming around the monastery. I'd have beaten this game much faster if the switch didn't have to die every two hours (and before you ask, why not just plug it into the TV, I play Three houses like I play VN's, with headphones.) Look at it this way, a VN called Rio Reincarnation was released on July 23, according to VNDB it's a 50+ hour game, I finished that before Three Houses came out on the 26th at midnight.

36 hours huh ? I guess you just skeemed through the game then, you probably automated your teachings with the students, didn't explore much of the monastery beyond your 1st time, didn't watch most of the support conversation on your first run and speed through the multiples battles of the game in less than 30 minutes each ...

1) You rushed through your playthrough hard to get to the ending, which undermines the experience you could of had by doing almost none of it than just the mandatory.

OR

2) You're lying through your teeth. (Unless you're willing to give proof in the form of a screenshot or such)

Sorry, but I'm truly skepitcal on your account, I mean no harm though. It's still fine if that's the way your wanna play your games.

I'm NoT oBlIgAtEd To GiVe YoU pRoOf!!

Spoiler!

Atleast, that's what I would say if I was some cuck.

Here is a pic of my Switch just so some of you people that think I'm hating on the console for no reason would calm down.

Here is a pic of my last clear, my current playthrough, and two of my first playthroughs.

And since I overwrite save clears with a new clear, here is a pic of my extras with the main characters all at A, except for second best girl Edelgard being an S. (You can only get an A with a character after the time skip, atleast, that's when I got the A's.

The only thing here is that I played the game on Casual, that's mostly cause I didn't really buy this game for the combat, I bought it for the ship.

I'm not that far into the game myself, but I'm also playing on hard mode, and I'm sure it's going to get tough at some point, but if you're referring to the tutorial at the beginning, then I didn't have that problem. It seemed like the game guided me on every turn telling me where to go. It sounds like you might be farther than me, though.

Are you doing classic as well? That's how I played through Conquest, and I remember some missions requiring multiple resets, but I eventually managed, so I figured I'd carry on that legacy with Three Houses as well.

Not the tutorial level where you have all three house leaders. It's the second time you are fighting the bandit leader though. When you kill this guy...

Playing on classic mode. So if a single unit dies you have to rewind time.

Finished my second playthrough (done both BE routes now) - I said it after the first one and I'll say it again now after 90 hours, this is the GOTY and one of the best games ever made. The story intricacies, the character building, the design is just absolutely perfect. I love this game so much

Oh shit!

So many different opinions, who do I listen to?

Any Blazing Blade fans want to speak to this game? And I mean the sorts that REALLY hated Awakening (I'm not one of you, I liked Awakening, but I am very very sympathetic toward your opinions).

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

I was hoping to do at least 2 playthroughs before astral chain releases but I may have to settle for one and do a second playthrough later in the year

50 hours in, on chapter 17. I love this game so far. My only complaint is that they locked a major plot turning point behind an optional and missable convo in the exploration mode, which is utter BS. I am over it, but damn did it piss me off when I found out I could not do what I intended to do i initially.
