So this one is really simple.

Currently the Switch sells for the same MSRP as the PS4.  And being that it is a newer device and the PlayStation is 5 years old, there is more interest in the hybrid console.  But realistically can Nintendo price a hypothetical Pro Switch and the same MSRP as a PS4 Pro?  Also, along those lines, we have seen sub 399 PS4 pro models over the last few months (whether it is a temp sale or trade value).  Does a cheaper Pro model negate Nintendo's ability to offer a 399 Pro switch.  What should be considered the price ceiling for the rumored Switch?

The Switch goes for $299.

The Lite goes for $199.

Can Nintendo charge $399 for a Pro?

They probably would stay at $299. After all, due to die shrink and the evolution of technology in general, it would be about as expensive to make as the Switch was during it's inception, and I don't expect them to make it more expensive. Just the other models will go down in price in the meanwhile.

Come to think of it you have a point even if you consider better specs.

Theres a shrunk chip version, that has like 80%+ better battery life, due to shrunk chip + more effecient ram.
That will just be a straight up improvement on the normal model.... and will likely stay at 299$.

I think it more likely that in 2021-2022, there will be a Switch 2 model (thats also backwards compatabile with switch 1 games).

I believe Nintendo is more interested in making their profits from software, and would rather sell their hardware at an affordable price to get it into as many hands as possible.

But here's what I'd personally like to see happen:

What if Nintendo released a successor to the Switch whose software can still be played by the regular Switch (albeit at a lower resolution). This would allow them to maintain their install base (or at least transition their install base more easily).

Switch 2.0 could basically be a Switch with a 1440p screen (as it would scale nicely with 720p, but if that's too ambitious, than maybe just 1080p), and with hardware scaled up to suit those needs. Nintendo could incentivise developers to create games that can still be playable in 720p on the regular Switch.

Clearly I haven't given this idea very much thought, but it is something that I'd like to see happen. Devs already need to make sure that their games can run docked and un-docked, so this would sort of be an extension of that.

The Pro idea will likely be rolled into the NS 2. Nintendo made it's big hardware choices for their current device at this point.
(Maybe a NS box. But that's a very big maybe at the end of the current NS generation.)

$299 is my vote. I don't think people will spend top dollar on a Nintendo console, which is why Nintendo launches the type(s) of hardware they do.

Additionally, power is overrated.  The Xbox X is a beast, and the Switch is kicking the crap out of it. 

Great software at a reasonable price = sales

I'll add I'm tired of seeing people complain about the power of the Switch.  Nintendo has a desire to sell to the masses, not target single individuals and make them happy.  For those who want extreme power, buy an Xbox X or build a PC.  There are options, Nintendo shouldn't change their entire identity because a few people on the web have a loud voice.

Depends on what switch pro is.
But by now, I think is more realistic to expect a mini home console only for sub 200$.
