Forums - Movies & TV - Star Trek: Picard trailer debuts at SDCC

Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy, except that I don't have CBS all access nor want to subscribe to it. It will hopefully be aired on Space channel here. Modern tv, unnecessarily complicated.

The only thing I don't like is the overdone kid/woman/robot who must be saved/protected and then it turns out that they are being hunted because they were prophecized/created to bring about the destruction of the world/Galaxy, but our main hero/s are able to appeal to their "human" side to turn them good when they are about to do it. It's been done to death and I'm pretty sure it's probably already been done in some form or another in Star Trek before.

Really wish they would have picked a different way to set up the series.  It will still be nice to see all of the old faces, again. Though, I'm not subscribing to do that.

Early 2020 is going to be awesome. Star Trek Picard, and FFVIIR.

Video unavailable for me.... I'm skeptical about this. I LOVE Patrick Stewart. But he's lost a couple steps. It was almost painfully obvious even 3-4 years ago. That's not a slag. I respect him greatly. Also, is this part of the CBS streaming service? That was my understanding. If so. LOL. I can't imagine, outside of blatant piracy, that I'll ever see it. Good thing streaming saved us all from the inconvenience of flipping to a TV channel at a set time. The future is here. Cough cough.

I think we were all skeptical.  By all appearances it looked like they were going to boot this in the same way they booted Discovery.

But the trailer really is worth getting excited about.

I just found and watched the trailer in the OP, and I agree that it looks good! Also, in Canada, Picard will be available in streaming AND on TV via the same network. So hooray for everything. Being on TV is huge for me. I already have the channel in my package, so no new subs are required. Too bad the show isn't on TV in the US as well.

They seem to have gotten around the whole, "Brent Spiner is aging, but Data doesn't age" problem. The effect is nice. Interested to see how they've written Data back into the world of the living.

Was really surprised to see seven of nine here, hope there'll be more surprise characters from ds9 or voyager. The premise does seem pretty generic but having this world and these characters back is exciting.

I have to say that it actually looks good. Maybe, just maybe CBS learned their lesson from the dumpster fire that was Star Trek Discovery?

As a casual that only sometimes watches StarTrek, I have to agree, Discovery didnt capture me the same way some of the earlier shows did.

my favorite's would be:

Star Trek - Enterprise (with scott bakula)
Star Trek - The Next Generation (Patrick Stewart, Q?)

Star Trek - Vouager (overall was okay too, seven of nine + Borgs? how can you not like it)

*edit:
Couldnt watch the trailer here ,so just had to go try my luck on youtube.
Trailer is awesome, Picard + Data + Seven of Nine....... hype! screw Discovery like seriously.

As much of the old Trek fan I am, this looks pretty meh. I won't judge it by one trailer, but given the visuals and all the action, it doesn't feel like the old "to boldly go where no man has gone before" Trek and Patrick Stewart is unfortunately too old at this point.

On the plus side - 7 of 9

Q needs to be in it.

Riker and Troi is confirmed to be in it too.

Too old? 350 years from now age 79 should still be considered prime life time. What is unbelievable is having hot headed reckless young idiots pilot a star ship. (TOS is fun though) The next generation ended in 2370, 25 years ago. Picard's last appearance was in Nemesis in 2379, 17 years ago. Star Trek Picard begins in 2399, so the real him still aged a bit slower than the elapsed time since his last appearance, as should happen in the future. It all fits.
