Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Should Nintendo bolster their Western Development Empire?

Not only that, but we get the RARE catalogue back in Smash too, and perhaps a nice Diddy Kong Racing expansion for Mario Kart.
I think having Nintendo games on Xbox would only be healthy for Nintendo; IMO, properties like Metroid will inevitably see a much larger audience among Microsoft fans as the game fits that Xbox niche better than a Nintendo console - while this may seem like a surrender for Nintendo, it will allow the Xbox base to warm a lot more to Nintendo hardware; and then there are companies like Bethesda who would probably find ways to benefit from such a relationship.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

At this point, based on ME Andromeda and Anthem, I don't think I'd even want them to make Kotor 3. I'd rather someone else just make a Canon remake of the original and start from there.

But Disney won't allow that to happen because Bob Iger is too stupid to take the Star Wars game rights from EA.

Wouldn't it be better if Nintendo and Microsoft made hardware together instead of just putting Microsoft-owned games on Nintendo hardware? Metroid Prime wouldn't need to be on Xbox, they've got Halo.

If it were only so easy. But Nintendo and Microsoft platforms are a huge part of each's income, so one company giving up their hardware, or both companies forming a third party to be in charge of the hardware means a tremendous loss of income and power.

The only way I could see it happening is if Microsoft buys Nintendo.

Most Western studios suck, at least the big ones do. They could buy a few Western indies though. That would be a good investment, and a bunch of smaller games, like Cadence of Hyrule, would fill out some holes in their first party library.

No they should do what they do now and invest in what better adds to their strengths you mention SE but they're an example of why as look at their output their best game in the past decade was made by another Japanese developer in Platinum Games with their internal output with the exception of DQ and Octopath all having issues FFXIV is fine now but took two attempts to sort out and their western studios have had problems as well despite having notable IPs as the likes of Deus Ex, Tomb Raider, Hitman etc... have been a roller coaster affair.

Rather than bolster a bunch of new studios that would end up the way SE's situation has gone it better they do what they're doing now and grow and invest in their current crop like they have with Monolith who are now looking into creating games suited to western taste as well going by one of their upcoming projects.

Yes they should.

Sega's american development studios were a great asset for them, and one of the reasons why they were able to compete against Nintendo.

Also, more studios = more games.

And more games help their console.

I LOVE ICELAND!

Oh man. Too much to respond to. Have to wait till I'm at my cpu. Short answer: Yes But Maybe Depending On Execution. Switch may be my last 10DO console I get at launch. Way Too Many franchises Im Not Into. Year 1 was the only year worth buying a switch imo.

It is better to create great third pary or second party relations. I honestly feel a lot of studios and indies would like to make some games for Nintendo.

Empire? It's more like a few small towns :P

Yeah, Nintendo needs to look into some more Western first/second party studios.

I think if they opened up a new studio in U.S.A. that focused on western RPG's pretty much only, it would be glorious. Like, their own little Bethesda studio.

God, please, no!

You could have named so many good studios, and you managed to name the worst one you could.

You could have said Obsidian, inXile, Beamdog... so many great RPG studios...

How about buying Shin'en Multimedia? They are very good programmers, imagine what they could do with an actual budget...

Nintendo should try opening a dark division in USA. With some rated M or A games. Imagine the quality of those games based on the historical context of their own first party games quality. Start creating top characters for a new segment. Maybe a zombie apocalyptic saga, a shooter saga, or even another opened world saga. Imagine this division making Zelda and Metroid games eventually.
