Alright i hope the switch lite does not have that problem.

My original pair does. I just assumed it was on my end, as it may have gotten banged up in my backpack during my travels to E3, Florida, etc several times since early '17. But hearing this is such a widespread problem and that Nintendo is repairing them for free, I may have to send those suckers in.

I got a replay back from nintendo repair. They told me to ship the faulty joy con with Purolator to Vancouver. Cheapest shipping method with Purolator one way is CAD 48. They didn't say anything about the repair being free or who pays for the return shipping. It's cheaper to buy a new one. A set is CAD 99 with free shipping on Amazon and you can probably get them for less somewhere else. Pointless.

Oh and estimated 2 weeks time after they receive the item.

UPDATE: Sent a pair in to nintendo. They gave their purolator account for shipping. A month later I recieved joycons back. Left one looks like a new one, right one looks like original with new stick installed. This was a launch day system so beyond warranty. Both work perfect now. Total cost including shipping: $0.00 No questions asked.

My other sons system has started to drift on left joycon so have set up a repair for that one now as well. So should have 2 working sets of joycons again soon with no charge.

I'm wondering if anyone who hadn't had drift issues before have had them now?

Personally, my launch Switch has had joycon drift for about a year now. I used GoOnKid's suggestion of contact cleaner and it's worked...but for about a month or two at a time. So I have to continually reapply it. Not a perfect solution, but it works for now until I choose to buy new joycons, which I refuse to do until they have proven to have fixed the problem.

I've had my Switch since July 2017. Never had any drift problems until playing Overcooked in Dec 2019. It only really seemed to happen on Overcooked for some reason though (weird). But then recently, starting in April, it started happening regularly on any game and is extremely annoying.

A couple days ago I lifted up the little skirt under the stick and sprayed contact cleaner in there. Seems to have pretty much solved the problem. Haven't had any drift in the several hours I've played since then. Seems like this is a good and easy solution. I expect I will have to do this on occasion to keep the drift away but its a cheap, quick, easy solution that doesn't have me sending my joy con away for a month and not being able to play my Switch. Seems like the problem is likely dust/dirt getting in under the stick skirt after a bunch of use, I guess if you're not moving the stick around a lot it is less likely to happen which is why it mostly happens with the left joy con.

Mine left joyon started drifting a few months ago. I used isopropyl alchohol to clean it. It works for a bit, but goes back to drifting not long after. It is infuriating because I use my joycons less than 5% of my total playtime.

My pro controller now has drift issues. Need to get a new one. Wish they weren't so expensive

Don’t use alcohol, at best you might dislodge some of the dust, but within 1-10 days the issue will return unless you clean it super thoroughly. The best way to deal with it is electronic contact cleaner. Use a swab to dig around for a minute or three (might need to spray in a bit more every 30 seconds or so), rotate the joystick, swab a bit more, rotate and it’ll dry in a few minutes. after 1-3 treatments (depending on how much crap is in there, mostly it will be just 1 required) the issue will be repaired. I’ve fixed about a dozen controllers of family, co-workers, and friends this way and have had a 100% success rate with only my kid’s controller drifting again after like 6 months (which I fixed again).
