Forums - Sony Discussion - Should the Touchpad, LIghtbar, and Motion sensor stay in the Dualshock 5?

Lightbar should be easily allowed to be turned off to save battery. But I like it, it should stay.
Motion should stay.
Touchpad... either turn it into a screen to give it some more usage or just get rid of it.

Controllers are expensive enough already, don't want them to add a screen lol.

Don't really care what they do to them honestly, would rather have a controller that lasts long like the wii u pro controller.

Nintendo Switch FC: SW-6340-7643-4233 aka Renji

Steam: Lee Roid

They realy don't need lightbar. I just want better motion sensor ( for VR games), better touchpad and more battery life.

Lightbar, gyro and speaker can disappear, touchpad can stay.

Then lower the price.

Now that I think about it, the light bar is kind of a must for VR. Unless there is some sort of optional attachment or VR specific controller, it's a vital feature.

This.

None of those things were used very well in any games. Touchpad just became a big button because it was horrible to integrate into games. Still remember trying to swipe it in infamous... ugh. Motion and light bar are really only used in vr games... that already have better options with the move controllers. I did like the speaker but almost no games used it.

Honestly, they should cut all of it and drop the price or make other more meaningful improvements. They can have another vr focused controller if they are planning to carry on with that, but since that is a more niche audience I don’t think they should force everybody to have vr features in their controller.

I love the speaker. It's a shame more games haven't made use of it. I loved the use of it in KZSF, Knack, Detroit, Spidey and Horizon.

Possibly one of the most underused features of the ps4.

Get rid of that light bar. I hate it with a passion. Even when dimmed it is way to bright. I have to cover the controller when watching something on Netflix because it's so distractingly bright in the dark. I feel like Sony needs to get with the times and have there controller be more like Xbox and switch pro in terms of shape. Also the battery life needs a huge improvement it is unacceptable for a controller to have such a short battery. The touchpad seems pretty pointless although it doesn't really bother me. I thinks crazy that Sony are so stubborn and refuse to meaningfully update they're dated controllers. The ds4 was a baby step in the right direction but is still very poor compared to the competition.

Replace the touchpad with a touch screen and bundle each controller with a stylus.
