I'm not concerned about it not being able to be docked. And this is coming from someone who almost never uses his Switch in handheld mode. But there is definitely a market for the Switch Lite, and at $200 it still offers plenty of value. As long as they keep making the regular Switch (which they 100% will), then this introduction is only good.

Although, serious question here, will the ugly colors hurt sales?

Grey is standard fare for a console as it's pretty neutral. Yellow isn't ugly. Turquoise is the only odd one, but that's exactly what will make it appealing in the UK because they have strange taste; the original 3DS's aqua blue looked very similar and was surprisingly popular in the UK, relative to other countries.

With the introduction of a handheld-only SKU, the number of special editions will increase sharply, so anyone who doesn't like any of the three current colors will have plenty of other options in the future. Besides, new standard colors are also only a matter of time, so before long we'll see red, black, green and others.

Together. Just as they did with all the countless DS and 3DS revisions.

So Lite sales will be counted against PS/XB? Does it make sense?

If you're asking if VGC will put the Switch bar on the left or the right, I think they'll stick with left. Because that's where it is now.

Yes, it does make sense. Switch Lite contributes to Nintendo's market share in the console business.

That'd be totally unfair. Lite is handheld console capable of selling even more than the regular. Families will buy multiples of it. Putting a Swich sales bar that includes Lite sales against PS4 bar is just wrong. I hope someone from the staff can clarify that.

Yes it does since Switch and Switch Lite have got the same library of games and the Switch has been counted against PS/XB since release.

I have a lot of crow to eat. A Switch that can't switch is a LI(t)E.

As for the system, I hate it and love it. Very clever but a bit naughty not to allow video out through the USB-C port even if it's only HH performance.

I'll still take TV-out and local multi for $300 over the increased portability but a $99-149 Switch TV and $200 Lite would be very tempting especially if gameplay was seamless.

But Switch was considered a home console, Lite isn't. The sales behauviour will be completely different considering that it's a handheld console like 3DS, much cheaper, families will buy multiple units, etc. Totally unfair if we compare Lite sales against true current gen home consoles.

I'm waiting for the version without the screen that just hooks up to a TV.

This is VGChartz, of course they will count it the same when it is not, you crazy?

"That'd be totally unfair, Lite is a Switch with the exact same games as the regular, people who own a lite won't buy a standard, you're splitting the switch userbase in half!"

Is branding the Switch lite as "Not a switch" more fair?

But you should stop viewing it through a competitive lens and view it through a logical one.
