Forums - Nintendo Discussion - When do you think the first wave of Switch Nintendo Selects will release?

Everybody loves good games at a good price, so I hope to see a wave of Nintendo Selects hit the Switch soon. When do you think Nintendo will release one and what games will it include? For me personally I think they'll release a wave this fall, maybe in October or November, and the games will be...

Mario Tennis Aces

1-2 Switch

Fire Emblem Warriors

ARMS

The last three are pretty forgotten Switch games at this point, and I think they would benefit well from a discounted re-print.

What do you guys think?

I wish all WiiU ports would take a "Selects" price range, and that we would get more of them. There was a ton of gold on the WiiU, that would absolutely be *fantastic* in portable form, but I hate that we have to pay $40+ for them all. Nintendo tries to justify those price points by adding a little extra content, but realistically, it's not worth it to me. Just give em to me in their original form for $20-$30 and let's call it a day.

Anyways, I don't think we'll see any Selects line until mid/late next year at the earliest, and more likely not until '21.

Too late. They're making money.

Didn't it take til 2016 for WiiU to get selects?
For Switch I'd figure 2022 at the earliest. At issue is the mfg cost of the Switch cart. Additionally Nintendo would be undercutting 3rd parties by offering its best 1st party software at a discount.

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

Not any time soon. The Switch and respective software is selling too well. Nintendo games are essentially the only games I pay full price for, since they rarely get price cuts. Drives me crazy, but such is life.

Dont think we will see "selecs" any more.. Digital says hallo
And we have allready seen many games.. including DKTF and BOTW for 20-30 % disounts

There's already been drops on major titles from 60 down to 40 a few times, but I think the physical games will be left at the birthday or Christmas present prices they're at right now because that's mostly what those are for in 2019, physical games are for collectors or older relatives buying gifts and both those are happy to pay a premium I think.

Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive

Yeah it sucks they're taking so long. I have to be extremely picky choosing Nintendo's Switch games because each of them is always $60. There's no incentive to move beyond the comfort zone, really, so to speak.

I thought "selects" would be their best selling titles like Breath of the Wild, Mario Kart, Smash Bros, etc.... If that is the case, then I don't think they will become "selects" for several more years since people still buy these games at full price when they get a Switch. A $30 (or less) Breath of the Wild really only makes sense when the Switch is $150 or less. At that point you are getting customers who are a lot more price conscious.

I guess a game like Mario Tennis Aces is pretty ready for a price cut, but I don't think it should get a special label. "Selects" really ought to be for their best selling titles.

Not for a while. At least 2021 to give some of their lower profile 1st party titles in 2017-2018 a second wind of sales.

I think their Selects lineup for the Switch will be used more as a marketing tool to sell more of their B-C tier 1st party games and expand their reach instead of their S-A tier games that don't really need it.

I think the 1st wave will be ARMS, 1-2 Switch, Mario & Rabbids, Fire Emblem Warriors, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Tropical Freeze, and Mario Tennis Aces for all their 'B-C' tier titles, and then either Splatoon 2 or Super Mario Odyssey to have that 1 'S-A' tier title.
