A few days ago I watched Spider-Man: Far From Home, and I'm still thinking about the movie. I thought it was fantastic! Tom Holland and company are great as usual, especially Jake Gyllenhaal. He just nails it as Mysterio. The action is far better than anything we saw in Homecoming. I also thought the story was a lot more interesting. In my opinion, Far From Home is a big step up from Homecoming, and the best Spider-Man movie since Spider-Man 2. I already know many of you are going to bring up Into the Spider-Verse. Yes, that movie is also fantastic. However, i'm choosing to focus on the live action movies for now. There's other things I want to talk about as well (including some awesome action sequences and THAT mid-credits scene), but let's just keep this spoiler-free.

So, what did you think about Far From Home? Do you think it's better, or worse than its predecessor? Where would you rank it among the other Spider-Man movies? Here's my ranking:

My wife hated the movie though, since Tony Stark was mostly missing (she's a huge fangirl of MCU Tony Stark).

Far from home, is probably the best Spiderman film I've seen.

They did Mysterio so damn well.


Homecoming isnt even close.... but I guess theres no accounting for taste (wouldnt surprise me if it gets like 1 sympathy vote).

Homecoming for me. It had a breezy humility to it--like it was surprised by everything it did right. Far From Home, like a lot of sequels to successful properties, strains to recapture the magic. The writers (and Gyllenhaal) absolutely nailed Mysterio. I adored the reality-bending sequences (I wish there were more of them!) and the meta commentary on political, journalistic, and even cinematic illusions.

But a lot of the action--particularly in the front half--was inert, and the many of the high-school jokes fell flat. Also, there is a surprising and disappointing lack of chemistry between Holland and Zendaya.

Finally, I think Marvel has done the character a disservice by sending him on a globe-hopping adventure with Iron Man-esque tech. He's starting to feel like any other MCU hero, when his strengths lie in his connection to the people of New York and his humble origins.

Overall, the movie feels like a tonal reset after the weight of End Game. I expect Spider-Man 3, free to be its own thing, will score higher.

You need to see "Into the Spider-Verse". Trust me on this.
