Forums - Gaming Discussion - Differences in mentalities between eastern and western developers

Curious to get a general resource of this going here.

Was talking with some people about the Pokemon Sword and Shield issues, and among the things that came up are a few things that create feedback dissonance between the western fans and the developers in Japan.

Among them are the social features that either come off as a lot less convenient out west than in Japan (like local wireless events) and what they like and we find annoying (paired versions).

I also know there is a larger fondness for grinding in eastern developers mindsets than the western ones, though with loot box economies that might have changed a bit.

So local wireless, paired versions, and grinding. What else stands out as a difference in developer mentalities?

The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?

Around the Network

Is it mental or cultural? I think it's more cultural.

...to avoid getting banned for inactivity, I may have to resort to comments that are of a lower overall quality and or beneath my moral standards.

Either or, I'd like a list that I can filter through so I can go 'this is a cultural thing' versus 'this is them just being dumb'

With local wireless you have a point.
One of the reasons MHW didn't sell as well is because MH thrived on local co-op culture on portables.
