Pretty awesome to see VGchartz releasing the sales data for the consoles just 1 week out, it's crazy to think that there was a time when the numbers were 3-6 months delayed... it's a damn shame however that the majority of the people who were complaining that the delays were so severe back then... are all gone now.

On the topic of the sales though, it's pretty locked in that X1 sales each week are 150k below the Switch, which means next week could see a boost of the X1 up to the PS4 figures! however it does mean that if the Switch were to suffer a sub 150k week... that people will be returning X1's to shops faster than they're selling to create the first ever negative sales week on here lol.

I admit, with such a long stretch without any big games, I thought they'd be a couple weeks in May and June where Switch lost the top spot.

Now Mario Maker's here, and with the stacked lineup for the rest of the year, PS4 will need a price cut to score any weeks at #1.

  1. Why would switch lose the top spot when the other consoles also aren't getting any big game releases.
  2. I think it's fair to say that there s no way (as it should be expected) that in its 6th year the PS4 should be outselling the switch at $299. Yes, it needs a price drop. That it's even still keeping the gap respectable is an achievement.
  3. And why is everyone forgetting that the PS4/XB1 are currently almost years old? If you guys really want to compare sales... compare them to those consoles 3rd years on the market.

1. It wouldn't.

2. Correct.

3. A quick look at year 3 sales aligned using the VGC tools will show you that Switch year 3 is slightly outpacing PS4 year 3.  The PS4 was a beast, so even landing slightly below would mean the Switch is also a beast, let alone slightly ahead.  At the end of the day, Switch sales are just plain impressive no matter what data you are trying to compare it to.

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-5643-2927-1984

Animal Crossing NH Dream Address: DA-1078-9916-3261

The gap between the Switch and Xbox One is only 7.5 million now, the next weeks will be interesting

Will be interesting to see whether Switch overtakes Xbone in lifetime sales by the end of the year.

Even these threads are dying. Where is the wow PS4 is still doing great considering it's age, Switch is killing it, Xbox is doomed crowds? This is going to be a long year and half wait for the next gen.

Well the ps4 is certainly the most impressive here but its true there's nothing more to see the gen is winding down

I thought that, too! I remember those times when hardware charts were 4 months delayed. Kudos to everyone who works on the hardware charts now! Even more respect, because summer holidays are around the corner.

I still would appreciate if we could also get some weekly software releases on this site to get an impression which titles could have moved some hardware.

What the heck happend to the PS4 in the US?.... thats on the lower side right?

It is nice to see people happy with the hardware figures being more up to date than they used to be. I do remember they were months behind as well. It was nice IOI handed over the reins to the team, so we can now keep things more up to date.

Im guessing removing the weekly games sales have ease the work?

Aye Trunks it's really great to see, so often I would be talking with friends about console sales and bring up here or numbers of things going on with how popular the PS4 was to the X1 but then show a picture of the sales data from a few months back and would always get the same thing of "well... that was back in Feb what are they like now? the X1 could be doing better" but having sales based in the last week means you can directly talk about sales and have numbers here to back up how each machine is doing right now. Makes this site so much easier to recommend to use for things like this however.... here in Ireland we still get some crazy bad adverts which means mobile browsing just isn't a thing anyone can really do here, there are videos which play and have no means to close the window without clicking into it and then going to the website of the advertiser, knowing how bad they are it makes it a caveat for telling people to come here, always has to be (but not on a mobile phone).

It's a little bit of a shame that software sales now only really work as a retrospective or by going on the press releases of the publishers but those things are often just fluff pieces such as activision not being happy with 10million sales for their latest call of duty or a tiny indie publisher having creamed their pants at making it to 200k sales. They're cool articles but really expectations have to reach either super high or super low to draw out a statement regarding software sales.

as others echoed in here, Great work though! I would tip my hat if I was wearing one but it's 30degree's and it's lucky if you find me wearing pants!

Not bad. 300K next week ?

The total FY2019 projection is becoming more and more realistic (or less and less unrealistic...)

I see this in each weeks sales releases and I gotta say... I would just be taking a wild guess as to what it's about? You have a graph and timelines but nothing in this post or any of the weekly ones says what the graph is about.

Is it the lifetimes sales of the Switch? for a while I thought it was meant to represent the 3 systems, but I think it's the Switches 3 years on the market, sorry but a graph and posts with no reference to any console or manufacturer is missing a key piece of information I feel.

Maybe I'm just a derp.... but there are plenty of derps on the Internet! Might help if you added the system name to your awesome weekly graphs?
