I was thinking this, since Konami will never do anything with that IP again I bet outside of Pachinko.
But I doubt that would happen either way. And since Sony kind of took in Kojima, it might make Konami reluctant to negotiate with Sony to begin with.

As for Remedy, it's not a studio I'm interested in, but I know there are a lot of Alan Wake fans who want a sequel.

Well, if Sony Playstation can't outright buy the IPs, because Konami still uses them in the pachinko and mobile space, then maybe they can buy the rights to the console/PC space. If you know what I mean?

Konami isn't interested in AAA anymore, so it would benefit both parties perfectly.

Konami and Sony are large companies, not children.

To be honest, I'd prefer that Sony continued to only buy studios that are already practically first party. Third party games and DLC should keep coming to all platforms simultaneously. Many users last gen were interested in Alan Wake and sad to discover it was exclusive. If this rumor is true, we'll again have a bunch of users not able to access Remedy games.

With that said, Alan Wake is one of the best games I played on my 360 and I'd love a true sequel. Hopefully, a 3rd party publisher is willing to fund it.

The days of Platform Exclusivity are coming to an end. With PS Now, xCloud, and Google Stadia we will all have access to Sony, Microsoft, and Google 1st party games day one across all of our devices. That is why building up Exclusives will be even more important going forward. Even if Sony, Microsoft, or Google do buy an EA, Capcom, or Take Two, everyone will continue to have access to the games, including millions of new consumers that would never invest specifically in a console or PC that can play AAA titles.

If Remedy joins SIEWWS, you will be able to play their PlayStation Exclusive game on PS5, or via PS Now on many other devices.

I look forward to more and more companies being bought up by Sony, Microsoft, Google, Apple, Amazon, and other major companies that can give them the time and resources they need to deliver their vision. Having games built exclusively for each platform, will help increase the qaulity of all titles greatly.

Is Remedy in good financial shape?

And then, “their games were never truly good anyway so who cares”...

Meh... hard to care about this when Remedy hasn't made an actually good game in a long time.

I have to wonder if this was intentional.

They're doing alright.

They were my prediction in the thread about Sony buying studios. Fits nicely in Sony’s wheelhouse of graphical narrative driven games.

I think this could be a good pickup by Sony if it happens. Remedy could use better management so they don't take so long to release a game.

Sony would just need to make a deal that Konami thinks they are the winners of. Something like Sony buys the IPs to make actual games again, giving Konami 1% of the revenue made off of the games, while Konami has all the rights to make their Pachinko machines based on the IPs, and get to keep all of the profit from said machines. Sony would still win by drawing interest and hype to their consoles/services.

Do it. And publish a spiritual successor to Max Payne while you're at it.

Well not a good buy on my opinion. I would probably play Allan Wake, or sequel. But buying it doesn't seem worthy;
