Forums - Website Topics - Ability to add poll options

At present, poll options cannot be added to an existing poll without ditching the poll and all the votes accumulated so far and starting from scratch.

It'd be awesome if a thread creator had the ability to add a new poll option without having to reboot the whole thing.

Just a suggestion. :)

Around the Network

I suspect polls must be reset when adding new options because it might make the results skewed. Some people might have voted differently, had the new options been there since the beginning. Of course there might be cases where this isn't much of an issue, and polls might not be all that serious business either, so perhaps this point of view isn't important enough anyway. I just wanted to point this out just in case.

Personally, I think both resetting and not resetting polls when adding new options are bad in different ways, and I have a hard time figuring out which one is less bad overall. Of course I still like the polls, so either one has to be chosen.

Possible compromise; set a time limit on it?

It just seems a common occurrence that someone starts a poll, only to minutes later be reminded of one they missed, except that several votes have already been cast.

The compromise would be to give the option for both and leave the choice up to the discretion of the author.
